Weren’t these deemed unconstitutional or something and that’s why no one pays them?
I don't know about that, but NO is ridiculous in enforcement of the traffic regs. And to add insult to injury, the fines are crazy. They don't give a shite because the contact holder handles everything for a cut of the collections. It's free money to the city.
Going 3mph over the posted limit? Ticket.
(I think it's 3, but it might be 2.)
Shitty or no signage in school zones? Tough luck! Ticket.
Mardi Gras Day when every school in the area is closed? Ticket.
Jammed up in an intersection because of heavy traffic? Tough shite. Ticket.
I fricking hate the traffic cameras, as I'm sure most citizens do. But I saw this report on Fox8 last night. There's a couple on Filmore Ave who have run up almost $135,000 in unpaid traffic fines over the past ten or twenty years. I guess they never park on the street, so they have no fear of getting booted.
I wonder if they brag about their record.

if you aren’t parked on public property, they can’t boot you for them.
never stopped them before
when I lived there, I had a keypad gate across my driveway. Fat arse meter maid was knocking on my door to open it up because she "had to give me a ticket" for the expired brake tag. She couldn't see the license plate b/c I was backed into the driveway. Politely told her frick off and closed the door. She squalered around and turkey necked for a bit; I heard her say "frick dis shite" and walk on down the street.

What traffic cam ticket? I have never received a ticket. I do let friends and family use my vehicle from time to time but I never go to New Orleans and have never received any citations.

Apparently you can also roll through Texas toll roads without a tag and they wont try to send you to collections until your bill gets up to $1000

A couple living on Filmore Avenue owes more than $116,000 across 700 tickets. The woman spoke with Fox 8 Chief Investigative Reporter Lee Zurik in 2019.
“What do they want me to do, sell my house and pay tickets?” she asked Zurik in 2019, after she admitted to speeding regularly.

“I don’t think we’ll ever see that money and that’s called a sunk cost.”
A sunk cost? I'm sure they've made some money back, and I'd be willing to bet that it has covered the cost of these cameras.
The term sunk cost honestly sounds like they are relying on this money for something- probably to line their own pockets. They should not be relying on this money for anything.
Also frick them cameras.

Just simply don’t park illegally in New Orleans and you’re good.
Could/Would a police car's license tag reader trigger it?

Was very surprised that she only had 1 ticket listed. I was expecting about 500 of them.

Dude that's nothing. From 1997 to 2007 I paid back $46,000 of student loans at 8% interest. How do you think I feel?

I don't know, but have you seen a police car in the past few years?

How much does the city owe that it hasn't paid?

Nah. If you live in a house with no off street parking, you have to park on the street. Even if you’re parked legally, the parking vans will boot you if their scanner picks up your plate.
