I make my own iced coffee and maybe order from SB once in a blue moon. It's usually when that's the ONLY option cuz they paid out the arse for the convention center or airport lease space. I don't get why the little green haired nose rings act so indignant when I ask for the nitro cold brew with ice.
They REFUSE to do it and get so pissy when I ask for cup of ice on the side. I'm like, "honey, do you understand your $1.83 tip depends on that cup of ice? Go roll your fricking eyes, no tip for you!"
I showed 'em.

They already changed that policy awhile back, there was a thread on here about it

Need to emulate Chick-fil-A in hiring, service, and how they handle a product. Get rid of the LWNJ's behind the counter, focus of just making good coffee instead of the swill they are peddling now, and get it served fast.

I only buy starbucks when at hotels and it's the cafe onsite or on vacation and my kids wants some random sugary mocha caramel foamy iced latte drink thingy. My go to is venti light roast in the mornings or a dark roast in the afternoons, black, no cream or sugar.

Millennials stopped buying coffee every day like billionaires suggested. See what happens?

I would go to the one in my town every now and then if it wasn't such a pain in the arse to get in and out of. They put it right between a McDonald's and Arby's about 15-20 years ago. There's so little room, that there are maybe 15 total parking spots. And when the drive thru line gets long, you can't back out of one of those 15 parking spots because drive thru traffic is right down the middle of the two designated parking sides.
I just laugh at all the idiots sitting there waiting for the drive thru line to get shorter when I drive by. Whoever designed that store in that tiny space deserves serious punishment.

Periodically while travelling, I'll stop at a starbucks for a coffee. Over the last couple of years, when I'd order a cup of dark roast black coffee, i'd get a dirty look and a "we don't have a dark roast right now". Sometimes they'll offer to do a "pour over", which is simply making a cup of coffee.
Apparently, if you only want coffee, simple black coffee, its a PITA for them. I guess they only want to make the sweet, fru-fru, caramel wakanda drinks.
I agree, if they are to stay relevant, start making coffee again.

Does the OT still buy coffee at Starbucks?
I try not to.
I want coffee flavored coffee, to reference Denis Leary. If I am there, it is because my wife or kids want it and I struggle to find a regular option that isn’t goddamn awful.

It's more the fact that their mainstay are espressos and espresso-derived drinks. Fresh drip coffee may not always be readily available. I do agree that it should be.

Didn’t someone claim at one point that overly burnt coffee beans being used to transport coke resulted in a glut on the market and Starbucks was founded using those beans to try and make a profit from them?

The dumbest trope ever is that Starbucks has bad coffee.
Starbucks coffee is objectively not good in large part due to their success. At their volume it is impossible to consistently source good coffee beans, so in turn they overly roast everything.
If you want high quality coffee stay out of Starbucks and get the light roast from whatever coffee shop you happen to be in.

The so-called original Starbucks that is across the Pike Place Market in Seattle is not the original Starbucks. That doesn’t stop clueless tourists from standing in line for up to 45 minutes to sample the wares. The original Starbucks was actually about a block down the street.
This is simikar to the facsimile Cavern Club in Liverpool that tourists flock to despite the fact that the original Cavern Club burned down years ago.

Look, I consume most of my coffee at home. When I do get coffee out, I try to support local places. I generally only go to Starbucks when it's convenient (and its app helps this a lot). So, I'm not going to argue that their coffee is excellent or the best, etc. However, they've had lighter roasts for years.

I actually really like their regular coffee but I don’t go often because the wait is forever with everyone getting those fancy drinks that take ten minutes to make. I get race tracks coffee now
