Please help recommend areas of Shreveport for my daughter to live

I know it’s a lot like living in BR, lots of crime. Although, BR does have some areas that are fine with older homes and pretty safe (relatively speaking) near LSU lakes, Tara, etc.
My daughter is moving there in July to start PA school and we are interested in a house bc she has a dog. She has met a couple of other girls who she can room with. Any suggestions on areas would be appreciated. Sorry, no pics. She’s cute though, looks like her dad.

Either north bossier, Haughton, or south Shreveport (Ellerbe Rd area). Other than that, good luck and God speed.

I’d stay away from Bossier or Haughton now due to construction on I-20 in Bossier. Traffic is a nightmare. South Shreveport would be best. My daughter lived in Broadmoor when she was in PT school and it was fine.

Most PA/ med school students rent houses in South Highlands or Broadmoor. It’s safe. Crime will leak out every now and then like any City in the South, but she will be fine.
It’s a beautiful neighborhood near the hospital and close to anything she would need.

Stay East of I-49 and you’re generally safe. Broadmoor, South Highlands (NOT HIGHLAND), Broadmoor Terrace, South Broadmoor.
If you want newer construction, The Haven, Riverbrooke (patio homes, lower maintenance yards), Kings Crossing, Kings Point are all along E.Kings Hwy and are all very safe. 12 Oaks is pretty pricey, but they do have a small patio homes section. Ellerbe area is good.
Is PA school at BPCC or LSUMC?
ETA: Anderson Island is hit or miss, I’d avoid it

My FiL lives in Broadmoor between Youree and E Kings. I’ve never felt unsafe there.

Haven’t been there in years but the area around the Bert Koons and Youree intersection were pretty good and that’s close to the school.
Got some pics?

People who say avoid bossier or Houghton because if construction are short-sighted sissies. When the construction is done, it'll be fine. Plus, there are many other ways to get around. 220. 80. Barksdale blvd.
I vote Bossier

Also east kings hwy is nice. There are also gated apartments too. Stay away from any areas that start with a number. Exp. 68th street.

I’ve got a nephew that lives in this neighborhood and is just finishing med school and getting ready to start his residency. Easy access to I-49 and just a 10-15 minute drive to LSUMC without any traffic.

North Shreveport around Blanchard area isn’t bad. With I49 being completed through the area it makes Bossier and the rest of Shreveport very easily accessible with a very short commute. Also has blown up per se over the last couple of years and has pretty much everything you need very close such as super Walmart and several fast food restaurants. Lots of new housing and neighborhoods going up as well.

Rent a house in Norris ferry crossing or norris ferry landing. Use southern loop and 49 to get where you need to go.

Native here.
East of I-49, South of Kings Highway. Grew up in Broadmoor. Still a nice neighborhood, close to everything.

What’s the budget? There’s some really good suggestions and I’m partial to the Ellerbe area. Problem is with places like 12 Oakes is you’re looking at 400-450k buy in. And that’s even if you can actually grab one before somebody else does. (They do have a smaller homes area but I don’t know what they go for, still gonna be $$).
South Highlands is beautiful as well and more central to the city.
Another choice could be the Springlake area. Some of the prettiest places in Shreveport and very nice.

Highly recommend south highlands. Preferably between ockley at the north, Fairfield at the west, thora at the south, and Gilbert at the east.
