U.S.-provided precision-guided munitions have failed in mission after mission in Ukraine, taken down by Russian electronic warfare. On Wednesday, the Pentagon revealed the latest casualty.
A new ground-launched version of an air-to-ground weapon developed for Ukraine on a rapid timeline failed to hit targets in part because of Russian electro-magnetic warfare, Bill LaPlante, the Pentagon's acquisition chief, said at an event held by think tank CSIS.
LaPlante suggested that Ukraine may no longer be interested in the weapon. “When you send something to people in the fight of their lives that just doesn’t work, they’ll try it three times and they’ll just throw it aside,” said LaPlante.
The weapon LaPlante is referring to is very likely the Ground-Launched Small Diameter Bomb (GLSDB) based on his description, according to Bryan Clark, a senior fellow at the Hudson Institute.
A Boeing spokesperson did not confirm that LaPlante was referring to GLSDB, but said the company is “working closely with the [Defense Department] on spiral capability improvements to the ground-launch SDB system.” Spiral capability improvements refers to an iterative software development process.
The GLDSB boasts a range of 90 miles—double the range of the Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMRLS) missiles Ukraine previously used to wreak havoc on Russia’s logistic centers. Funding for the weapon was approved in February 2023, and Ukraine was reportedly using the weapon by February 2024.
The weapon relies on GPS to navigate to its targets. It also has an inertial navigation system, which navigates to a target by estimating its position through the use of accelerometers and other devices.
But it is not the first GPS-guided weapon to fall afoul of Russian electronic warfare. ...
In congressional testimony in March, Hudson Institute Senior Fellow Daniel Patt said the targeting system for the GPS-guided Excalibur round “dropped from 70 percent effectiveness to 6 percent effectiveness over a matter of a few months as new EW mechanisms came out” in Ukraine. Patt cited the work of Jack Watling, an expert at think-tank RUSI who has traveled to Ukraine multiple times to interview Ukrainian commanders.

welp, we've found the place the people on the TV show Lost were stranded at.
Realistically, EW is a constant back and forth. Unfortunately Ukraine doesn't have the technical skills to make adjustments.
They'll just make them "dumb" and lob them east.

People here and on the OT will tell us that Russia's military is awful. The truth is that it's a competent military with plenty of technology and capability to serve as a peer competitor to anyone on the planet. People need to realize this now, before the arguments to put US troops in Ukraine begin - because that's where we're headed. When that happens, it's going to be ugly.

Did Ukraine honestly think we would supply them weapons with classified internals

Better for the Ukrainian military to find out the hard way that they don’t work than for the US military.

Yeah

Everyone but the U.S. and China.
They’re not as weak as people think and they’re not as strong as people think - and they’ve done a good enough job of keeping the country of Ukraine “intact”
The Russians know how to do total war and haven’t come close to doing it

Well, that's concerning...

Why would they not expect top technology from the US when a Dem is in charge? Look at all the stuff N. Korea got when Clinton was in office. And how about all the uranium Hillary passed off to Russia for pennies on the dollar? Biden using our top high tech fighter with sophisticated ordnance to bring down a spy balloon that was almost certainly collecting information up until the last split second certainly didn't do much to maintain any secrecy about our weapons capabilities either. And don't forget about all the US military technology that was left behind in Afghanistan to be collected by whoever wanted it or sold to the highest bidder.
Russia, and pretty much everyone else, has had ample opportunity over the past three years to deconstruct and reverse engineer a rather substantial portion of our arsenal and then develop effective countermeasures. All this thanks to Joe Biden and whoever is actually running the country and letting the doddering old fool catch the blame.

I’m getting a group together to take over Coates Hall until LSU divests from the war in Ukraine if anyone is interested.

Ergo, this is why the weapons do not work against Russia. D's from Teddy Kennedy in 1980's telling USSR not to worry about Reagan to the Clintons to O and to *Biden. They are sell-outs to the USA.
But they care about the working folk.
All those jobs overseas or taxed and regulated out of existence for the Climate Hoax. They care not for the USA and the working people but for their own power and offshore bank accounts.

The Russians have gone to school on NATO weapons systems. They have become stronger as a result of this war.

Of course others have our "secrets" how else are we going to scare the public into "next gen tech" to fight against the tech we just gave away??
So......
Our glide bombs dont work
Russia is jamming the signals of our newest missiles we gave them as well
No one will drive our tanks into battle because drones that cost three fifty are destroying our 50 million dollar tanks like fish in a barrel.

I heard on BBC that neighboring countries are complaining they cant land commercial flights at their own airports close to the border because the jamming signals are taking out their ability to navigate as well.

How is effectiveness being measured?
Is the INS failing as well?
Is the anti-jam capability in these export weapons the same as those in our military?
Conversely, what are we learning about Russia's EW, GPS etc?

Boeing is on quite the sh!t roll these last few years. From space, air and weapons.

The guided bombs aren't failing. Russia is countering them. Their failure has nothing to do with the quality Boeing provided.

As much as I hate the spending, we are learning. Now, they aren't using top equipment, but we didn't send Ukraine the best either. The Russian economy is roughly the size of New York. They cannot compete in a non-nuclear conflict. Their tech is comparable to late 90s to 00s with their stealth tech being about on par to late 80s early 90s US tech.

This is what happens when you use Justin Hammer’s tech.
