It's amazing how reframing your comms with other people produce different outcomes.

If you're really fascinated by it, you could always go back to read up on Aristotle's three divisions of rhetoric (ethos, pathos, logos) and expand into other areas of rhetorical appeals (kairos for example). I would also recommend reading about Lloyd Bitzer's work on the rhetorical situation, which conceptualizes the audience as being equally important in the construction of a text as the author is.

One group was asked, "Can you help clean?" The other was asked, “Can you be a helper and clean up?" The kids who were asked if they wanted to be a “helper” were 30% more likely to want to clean the classroom. The children weren’t interested in cleaning but wanted to be known as “helpers.”

As a manager at work and having a toddler at home, this is spot on
There are lots of great ways to "hack" conversations and relationships with people.
Every interaction with people you aren't interacting with super often carries more weight. Every positive interaction and every negative one are SO much more impactful.
Listening, asking people questions, figuring out what they are interested in and asking about that... letting other people talk can be just as powerful.

Give someone a reputation to live up to, and they will.

Are you saying that people shouldn’t identify as…anything? Ever?
Even if it something that is being of service to others?
That’s a pretty nutty thing to say bro.
