So explain this because these frickers dont write in today's language.
Are they legalizing hemp or making it illegal? I can't keep up with the government trying to eradicate useful plants.

Without looking it up, I would wager that the people pushing this bill have ties to the pharmaceutical industry and/or medical marijuana monopoly.
A couple big dollar donors from the booze and medical marijuana industries.

Landry would shoot this down in a heartbeat.
Clearly you're still butthurt over the masks. Cry about it

Louisiana truly is the worst of all political worlds: moronically socially conservative and recklessly fiscally liberal.
This is so true. Truly a backwards state.

They can’t wipe their arse without getting it blessed by Landry

Sent to LA House for vote.
The House is far more social conservative than the Senate, 100% chance this passes the House

This bill is reverting hemp products back to being THC-free. So no more edibles, beverages, etc. with THC. But you can still get your CBD essential oils and hemp shampoo.

I don't even know why I vote anymore
fricking this
To add insult to injury, LA lawmakers (not voters) passed legislation to reduce or eliminate open primaries. So now you'll get even more wackos that pander to left or right extremes to win their party primaries. It's moving backwards and increases the protection for the two-party system.

What if we amend the bill that local hemp businesses can sell items with THC if they say the pledge of allegiance every morning at 8:10 AM
They will also have to stand and sing the anthem.
And no lip sync either, better hear them sing!!

It is absurd that marijuana decriminalization/legalization is not put to a public vote like it is so many other places.
We vote on useless, mundane amendments every single election. Why not that?

Because only 23% of eligible voters came out to vote for the governor, which is when most people decide to come out and vote. Do you think you can even get 20% of people to come out and vote for anything else?

Louisiana has no provision for voter referendum like many other states that have gotten it passed that way. There is an upcoming constitutional convention after the session, but there's almost 0 chance in giving that power to the people.

This bill is solely because of the bible thumpers that need everyone else to live under their moral code. I say this as someone who has never purchased a THC product

Because they know how the public will vote.

Products from industrial hemp.
Do they mean CBD? Are they banning CBD?

Only a small fraction is this.
The real reason is the alcohol lobbyists - looking at you, Mockler - and all the massive distributors that do not want anyone to take away their share of recreational adult substances. I would absolutely rather have weed than alcohol, and I like both. Alcohol makes me feel shittier and is more expensive. I don't smoke the stuff. Edibles are much better, even the Delta-8/Delta-9s are enough.
Take too much weed? You pass out more than likely. OD on alcohol? Alcohol poisoning, a trip to the hospital, or worse.
The only thing the bible thumpers can even say is "well Jesus turned water into wine" and it's bullshite.
