I believe this to be factual beyond debate.
The Japanese are historically proud warriors who fight to the death without mercy or surrender. Had the status quo before the flights of the Enola Gay and Bockscar continued, the loss of allied troops would have been incalculable and the loss of Japanese would have ultimately been, well, total.
I despise war and WMDs but I understand why the bombings were carried out. I don't like it, but I understand it. And back then the US actually fulfilled their promises so we helped Japan to rebuild and they ultimately became one of our greatest allies. We taught them to make steel and then not long after that they in turn taught us to make better steel.

Personally, I believe targeting civilian areas with atom bombs is not OK, but wtf do I know.

The bombing save hundreds of thousands of American lives an millions of Japanese.

I have sat in on discussion at professional military college and it definitely saved lives. If we had invaded we would have incorporated carpet bombing as the means of destruction. Fire would have spread much further and killed many more Japanese let alone saving millions of lives in the coming invasion.

That's true. Some of the many fire bombing raids were worse, but didn't convince the Japanese high command to surrender. Even after Nagasaki and Hiroshima, there were powerful generals who strongly resisted surrender.

We should have dropped a few more.
We only had Plutonium for one more bomb. (they were enriching more but it would have taken time) The core for the third bomb became known as demon core. This core was used in some criticality experiments. Twice the experiment went wrong and killed two physicist.
Here is a YT episode that goes over it in detail
The demon core

My uncle survived MacArthur's Island Hopping campaign, his last engagement was on Guadalcanal. They were told that, after only 2 mths of R&R, they would be training to invade Japan. When the bombs were dropped & the Japanese surrendered, just in his command alone, 1000's of Americans were saved. My 4 cousins are extremely happy today.

Probably wouldn’t be here if they didn’t. Grandfather was in the 6th marines, he got lucky enough to begin with on Okinawa.
I could never figure out why Japan didn’t surrender after the first bomb.

Japanese history professors say it was justified because if Japan had nukes first they would have nuked America immediately.

Was the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki genocidal?

Here is a little tip to those who refuse to accept reality. All wars are genocidal. Ever since the beginning of time

When the war ended in Europe my dad had 86 points toward a discharge. You needed 88.When Japan surrendered he was at an Army Air Force base in South Dakota being checked out on B-29's and then assigned to the Pacific.
He was OK with the decision to bomb.

My Dad was on Okinawa gearing up for the Invasion of Japan. He was ecstatic when the bomb was dropped. My Uncle was in Czechoslovakia awaiting orders. I'm sure he was excited as well.

A good fiend from hs dad was part of the flight crew that got Bock's Car ready for the Nagaski mission. He said after they saw the photos from the first bomb and realized this could sure end the war every system on that B-29 was doubled tripled and quadrupled checked.

but it’s celebrated by our country to this day.
No it isn’t. Who the frick is openly celebrating the dropping of two atomic bombs on cities?
Necessary? Absolutely, especially taking into consideration the alternative.
Celebrated? Hardly.
I’m certainly glad that I wasn’t the one having to make that decision. However, the Japanese did that to themselves.
