I have a hard time believing Griffin will do what needs to be done.

It is very clear, that win or lose (barring a miracle run out of the 1st round), there needs to be some serious changes.

Zion and BI cannot really co-exist. You cannot pay Trey 100+ and have BI making 200+. You HAVE to find a center that fits better and those type of guys don't grow on trees. You have to find more shooting. And...you have to decide if Willie is working out, or you go for a guy with real cache, like Bud.

Lots of decisions, hard decisions that need to be made.

Griffin loves BI. Loves him. And he constantly talks about family this and family that.

Will Griff be willing to make cutthroat decisions, like moving BI for pieces that fit better? Moving on from guys like Naji? If some wild deal comes up, moving CJ? Axing Willie for a more proven HC that has actually won something?

I'm not saying all of those things need to happen. I'm just saying hard decisions NEED to be made...and I'm not sure he will be willing to do it.

Thats why you need to get rid of Griff too.

100% agree. Griff is afraid of taking risks. If you dont take risks in the NBA you're gonna slowly die off. Memphis is coming back strong next year. Houston and San Antonio are only going to get stronger. Running it back is not an option.

I wouldn't put it all on Griff either. Even if Gayle decided it was time to move on from Griff, I have a hard time seeing her wanting to clean house completely. If you believe MM's rumor that he says was sourced, the FO is even thinking of keeping Willie around in a FO capacity.

I'm not against keeping the brain trust strong and have generally been happy with the amount of people Griff has been able to hire, but at some point all of this loyalty and keeping people around can act as an immune system against needed changes.

The first thing that needs to happen this offseason is Griff is let go. The new GM can decide if he wants to stick with Willie. I’m willing to give him another year.
I’ve had enough of Griff, and never liked him. He’s a goober who shouldn’t be in charge of a basketball organization.

Bob Myers, simple as that. Pay the man.
Get this family shite out of here.
You shouldn’t have to build a family environment and talk about it all the time. It should happen organically, and it happens when you win and have players and coaches that all are professional enough to know what the goal of the organization is, to win a championship. It’s that simple. There are no other goals. If you are more concerned about your upcoming contract, then go somewhere else.
One goal, win a championship. That is what guides every player and coach to work hard in everything they do, YEAR ROUND.

While I love BI as well, I would without a doubt consider trading him this offseason for someone like Bam, if the Heat would even consider that.
I also think during this first year in 5 fricking years of extended games with BI and Zion playing together, our coach didn’t utilize their skill sets together at all.
So few Zion on ball picks for BI, when that should be the staple of the offense. That play, with three shooters should be our bread and butter. I’d rather see a coach use them like that more before writing one of them off to trade away.literally every team in the league with two guys like that as their best player runs sets like that all game long, except us.

Looks like he already extended Willie a while back. was never reported before.

A blurb in an Athletic article dropped saying Willie has "multiple years remaining on a new extension"

We are running it back.

As much as I love BI either he changes his play style to stop being so iso heavy or he has to go. A core of Zion, BI with a offensive philosphy change, Trey, Hawk, Dyson, Herb, and Jose is damn good with a couple of role players added in.

We need to do everything we can to get a big man who can shoot the 3 at above 35% on 3+ shots a game. See what it takes to get expiring Brook Lopez away from the Bucks, or go all in on a BI trade to get KAT from the TWolves. Hell at this point Edey said he could shoot the 3 but Painter doesn't let him, take a draft flyer on him and let's see what happens.

I can’t imagine they are sold on Willie. They would’ve extended him already. BI while a very good player should not get a max deal and does not fit next to Zion.

Gayle doesn’t have the acumen to do what’s needed to compete with upper echelon.

She also wont pay what’s needed to compete.

It's one thing to question if he'll make the right move but another to question if he'll make moves at all.

He's traded away a fan favorites like Jrue Holiday, Josh Hart, and Steven Adams. He liked these guys but still moved them to try to improve the team.

He's moved on from likes of Lonzo Ball, Kira Lewis, Jaxson Hayes, Favors, Devontae Graham, NAW, Nico, and JJ. Some of these are guys he brought in and cut bait. All of these were the right move, especially Lonzo in hindsight.

He hired and fired a coach after one year. That's admiring a mistake she moving on.

I don't understand why there's a belief that he won't make changes. If thinking he's made so many mistakes that he doesn't deserves more time that's another talk.

Move Zion ASAP.

Fit is horrible and he clogs up the offense.

Get a 6'10 Big who can stretch the floor and protect the rim. Be a real threat to score and balance the team.

Too much relying on Zion to just drive to the goal with his left hand only and teams just sag on him because he's no threat to shoot the ball.

Hopefully there's some value there now other than the side show circus he is and he's shown he can get through a season.

I reject the “BI and Zion can’t play together” thing. I’ve seen enough games when they’ve dominated the opposition. -
