It’s hard to win in Omaha. Not many teams have done it. This year just sucks bc the players haven’t gelled. No timely hitting, no leadership or fire, only 2 pitchers have stepped up.

At some point it’s on the players to produce.

who gives a shite what he did 10 years ago at another school

2024 LSU is soft, can't/won't compete and appears to have a bunch of players who were misevaluated.

he's won everywhere he's been. won coach of the year in two different conferences prior. was one cancelled away from potentially winning the toughest conference in america last season.

he's been to omaha 3 times in the past decade. played in the championship game against coastal while at arizona. he won a championship last season in only his 2nd season at LSU. and that was in a series against florida without skenes. he had a veteran team, but they don't win it all without the guys he also brought in. riley cooper could have easily been mvp of the cws.

his overall coaching record is around 433–223.

but yes he sucks. lsu fans can't handle one down season after one of their greatest seasons. there were fans bitching about him last season too. i can't stand it. it's ridiculous. complain about him next season if it happens again, but i doubt that will be necessary.

I don't think he sucks, but if you take away Skenes or pitching staff has been sub par. Why cant we get better pitching.

Nobody turns on a coach immediately after a national championship like LSU fans.

Thank God he won a NC, or else he’d be on a proverbial hot seat in folks’ eyes. He’s not the issue at-hand.

I’m as shocked and frustrated as any with the way we have performed this season, but Jay Johnson is not the thing that needs fixing here.

This is the SEC, not the Pac12. What happens last year if you don’t have Skenes? Most of that team was recruited by PM. JJ brought in Skenes and put with PM guys. Now this is his 3rd year and his recruits are starting to play, and it’s not looking good.

Question should be, can he sustain success in the SEC like he did the Pac12?

That’s right, don’t blame the millionaire adult, blame the kids. Why are we paying him again? I mean if he’s not responsible for the team why do we need a coach?

Your lack of self-awareness is amazing.

LSU is a powerhouse in both football & baseball, and it shows that even when a coach is fired, the inherited players are still really good.

But eventually, it shows its head why the coaches were ultimately fired.

For Brian Kelly, it has shown in the defense & overall talent depth.

For Jay johnson, it’s showing in the recruiting gaps that PM had.

Both are very fixable but need more than a cycle or two. Will come quicker in baseball tho

JJ gets credit for last years season

but

he’s never coached in a conference nowhere near as great as the SEC, he’s coaching with the big boys

jury is still out if he can actually sustain a winning culture in this league

That was his first year. That team was built and developed by Andy Garcia. Two out of the next three seasons Arizona didn't even make the tournament.

Who gives a shite what he did at Arizona. The way he has mishandled this season with recruiting, transfers, and coaching hires will set us back for years at best.

Jay took Arizona to Omaha in his first season there. They finished second. In his second season they lost their regional. They then went three seasons (one cancelled due to COVID) without making a regional, before his last season when they went to Omaha. And that was in the PAC-12. And we're talking about a historically strong program. Arizona has 4 national championships.

Although he has had success, that doesn't exactly scream consistency. In fact it screams boom or bust. I'm not sure LSU fans will have much patience if we go through a similar drought.
