’m surprised Israel has been this measured knowing Iran is behind all of these proxies.
The way I see it - Iran engaging directly is a green light to take the fight directly to the Mullahs back yard.
My guess is these areas were already targeted, and they just wanted to create some justification for hitting them.
*Justification, meaning on the international diplomacy level. I think most of the major powers were telling Israel "no, you can't bomb Iran, even though they SAY they were behind the terrorist attacks. They always talk big". But now, after they launched a strike against Israel directly, nobody is going to tell Israel they have to sit and take it.

This is the only part of your post I’ll disagree with. Israel was obligated to do what they had to in order to cripple the proxy war.
But yeah. They probably said if Iran is stupid enough to attack directly, it’s an opportunity- and we’ll use it.
So Iran got ahead of their skis on this and gave Isreal the reason they needed.
But I don’t think they did it purposely/strategically to attack Iran.

An Israeli military advisor just released a statement saying that Israelis should not go to bed tonight due to the attack It’s getting ready to unleash against Iran directly.

Nobody, except for one person...

But let’s play 4d chess here. Does Iran not know this? Israel attacking does not deescalate this, I can’t see how Iran just sits back and takes an attack on nuclear facilities? They would then look weak?
Maybe Israel attacks some very weak targets just to say they did something?

For me, it's the antisemitism.

This is the strategic part of it. Think poker. Iran had to do something to save face for their regime.
They are in a bind - that they created.
They probably hoped the attack was minimal enough that US pressure would prevail (Biden has already told Israel to do nothing)
Iran played a weak hand. There risk for them.
This is a once on a generation opportunity to set Iran back decades.

It’s also a once in a generation opportunity if Israel does attack for multiple Muslim countries to find it as an excuse to retaliate against Israel. Israel has an incredibly strong military for these small fights, but it’s a very small country with a limited amount of people.
If Israel does attack back, why would Iran just sit there and take it?
We can’t say Iran has to do something, but then they didn’t have to do something again…it’s a vicious never ending cycle.
The only thing that makes sense is Israel hitting back some weak arse soft targets like maybe some military base type of stuff. Knock out some runways or something, and be done. Call it a day, and go back to negotiations.

Israel is being taken down, the "good guys" are using Iran, dont believe all that is being reported
Posted on 4/13/24 at 9:33 pm to baldona
Yeah, that’s not how Israel ever looks at things. It’s always a 20-30 times stronger response than they were attacked by. Iran , when all the attacks are counted will probably have attacked with 300 middles etc. I would expect Israel to attack with a minimum of 6000 bombs etc. book it.

I expect Israel to surrender

Reports are coming in that the Arab countries are helping shoot down the Iranian drones.

Anything else by Israel is a huge signal of weakness and will embolden their enemies.
The enemies of Israel already know what Israel is capable of, that’s why as of now it’s been, and will hopefully continue to be shot for shot without escalating this into something that could get out of hand. How many people around here actually want this to escalate into WW3?

One note not to be lost is that Iran has had to quell many internal riots the past recent years. Many don’t like their rulers so if some top dogs were taken out there could be an internal uprising as well.
I don’t expect ant strikes on leadership instead I’d guess their oil tanker island would be an option.
