I’m a real coonass. I know where to get a plate lunch in Broussard.
But I’ve got some folks coming in who want Cajun in NOLA.
(I know, I know.)
Is there anything close?
Toups has a few items but isn’t really Cajun. Atchafalaya is comme ci comme ca. Trenasse puts beef broth in its boudin balls.
You got anything else?

I'm from Cajun country and living in NOLA.
Haven't found anything close to home yet.

I'm gonna catch some flak for this, but using your Broussard gauge, Deanie's on Ibbervlle is what you're looking for, Go early.

What foods are you looking for? New Orleans is not Cajun.

If you’re serious, shame on you. This was easily one of the worst meals
I’ve ever had. It was authentically frozen food warmed up. Horrendous

Get your gay Tom Cruise shite out of here. Broussard/Lafayette (that area) is as Cajun as they come and will outcook anyone in Louisiana!

Lil Dizzy’s would probably be your best bet.
I would also suggest Miss River.

I don't have anything to offer on recommendations... it's been many years since we've explored restaurants there, but I was going to ask before you posted that if they knew the difference between New Orleans cuisine and Cajun food.
I live in GA and when I tell someone that my wife is Cajun and we enjoy the food, the first thing they usually say is something like "we love the Cajun food in New Orleans."
So maybe what they are seeking is a New Orleans food experience???
If I'm visiting New Orleans, I would rather have an excellent example of the city's food than an average example of Cajun food if that is what it comes down to.
Just a thought.

It’s hard to beat Mosquito Supper Club when it comes to Bayou Cajun food.

I appreciate the food that girl does there. It just seems crazy expensive for what it is, though.
