The NCAA Division I Council could adopt emergency legislation this month for a new transfer rule that would allow all undergraduate athletes to transfer and play immediately if they meet specific academic requirements, according to a report from The Athletic.
The proposed legislation would not limit the number of times an athlete can transfer, according to The Athletic, which first reported the story. Athletes would still have two transfer windows and wouldn't be able to transfer mid-year and play for a second school in the same season.

Welp. If it wasn't over already, it's over now.

Let’s just open the flood gates now, might as well. Why not unlimited transfers in a year? When a player gets benched at Bama, let him find a starting spot at Auburn the next week

Ed O’Bannon ruined everything.

So college now has a “trade” deadline. When your all everything wideout gets hurt just buy another one mid season. Ridiculous.

I prefer the old days when you had to sit out a transfer year if you were going FBS-FBS.

The first athlete to challenge this in court will win. If they are enrolled, the courts will let them play

Women’s basketball is gonna be crazy next year. The ratings are gonna keep going up, and it’s a good thing because they’re going kill the other college sports.

It’s completely insane but they are bowing to the reality that no matter how many fans get on message boards and complain about it being the destruction of the sport, restraint of movement absent mutually agreed to contractual agreements to regulate it will not pass federal court muster. This is as much a zillion dollar business as it is a sport now, and sports people aren’t going to have the final say over how it’s resolved. It is what it is.

What?
Every pro sport has players under contract for multiple years. Why can’t college players be under contract too?

What necessitated declaring it an emergency meeting?

Let’s just call college football what it is now.
The NFL minor leagues, complete with salaries (NIL) and free agency. It sucks, but legally speaking, the ship has sailed.
