I have what is perhaps a dumbass question, how do they continue to get to do this shite without any congressional approval? And why isn't there immediately a politician from the other side on tv screaming about how they can't?

The thing that pisses me off the most in all of this is that the schools are never held accountable for their predatory actions. They just get to reel in new generation of suckers and keep getting paid. Like in a previous thread where some egghead was talking about how students would only need $30k a year in financial aid. That shite adds up in 3 to 5 years. It's joke. And because of their politics, the schools will never be held responsible.

I thought the Supreme Court said “nah”
They did, but it was only for a specific executive action based on a specific law.
Biden's admin is trying it another way.
I haven't gotten the details so I have no clue if it has any chance of working this time.

It's going to be based in some federal law.
And what do you mean "continue to get to do this"? All other forgiveness has flowed directly from federal laws. PSLF was passed in like 2007 or 2008.

Blatant vote buying.
The communist way, but it’s fool’s gold and most don’t even realize it.

We’ll all be waiting with bated breath for your brilliant legal analysis.

They have no interest in actually solving the problem they'd rather just buy more voters through forgiveness every 15 years

Good luck with that since the supreme court shut down his last bid to do that.

Straight up piece of shite liars trying to buy votes yet again
And ... They know it. Have you seen the idiotic things people will do for crap tossed from a Mardi gras float.... Now multiply that by 100,000. Voting for the downfall of freedom is a small price to pay for free stuff

This is why even "fiscal conservatives" won't discuss cutting Social Security. It's all vote buying.

Holding those people hostage. “In the fall” means they will go into effect after the election, so elect me to another term or you won’t get them.

When they gonna start paying off car or truck notes?

I'm not gonna pretend to know the details of it but seems to me if federal law passed by congress enabled them to be forgiven then they'd be forgiven without any additional action taken by the current admin

The people that vote for this are too stupid to realize that all this does is cause massive inflation which hurts the poor more.
They will pay more for Big Macs and gas over their life than their loans were ever worth.

I think they can simply instruct the Dept to simply not collect on these loans. That will be challenged of course.

They just clarified some regulatory issues.
The implementation of PSLF was a disaster initially under the Trump admin (not necessarily the fault of the Trump admin), and the regs had to be cleaned up a lot.

“But we will do absolutely fricking nothing to stop the gravy train of higher education who is the actual reason for the debt”
Don’t pay colleges until payments received on loans. Problem will fix itself.

I'm just waiting for the system to fall on itself.
That being said, what did we think was going to happen? Repubs couldn't wait to bail out corps and other big money people. It's fricking embarrassing how much money we give out at all times.
