Before the invention of paintball and airsoft guns, us kids in the 70's and 80"s used to have BB gun wars. Many of us had pellet guns...

I had a plastic pump craftsman that wouldn't blow the seals no matter how many times you pumped it. You could get it to break the sound barrier so you'd get the cool crack sound in the tree line

I’d take a BB gun but hell no to a pellet gun. Idk what kind of cheap pellet guns you guys had as kids but the one I had was a perfectly viable weapon for killing rabbits, squirrels, birds etc. You would 100% regret voluntarily taking one to the gut.

My friends and I shot each other with those for fun growing up

Surely you mean something like a Red Ryder. A .177 pellet from that distance can do some damage to the right spot.

I'm not exactly sure what I was shot junk adjacent with as a kid in Japan, but it didn't feel great, and I still had kids. I remember the color of the BB designated the round weight, and I got nailed with a dark grey one (next to heaviest, I think.)
