Ok how many share holders and executives do you need to be over those one or two workers?
Mcdonalds is franchised. If i owned like 5 McDonalds then i would need 1-2 people that can work on the machines.
And not have 100 other employees at minimum wage.

Minimum wage workers will see no increase in purchasing power. There will always be jobs with minimal skill requirements which pay low.
Exactly. Your pay is dictated by 2 things.
1 - How replaceable are you?
- If your job is trainable in a few hours/days you will never make much money.
2 - How much money do you make someone else?
- Drew Brees made lots of money because he made the Saints and NFL lots of money. A great teacher may be "more important" but they can't pack a stadium at $150/head every weekend.

What did I make up?
The median household income in 2022 is $74k
The median home costs $417k
Costs are steadily increasing at a much higher rate than pay is. There’s no denying that. Causing both parents to have to work. Very very few families have just one parent working anymore

The problem is inflation. Your solution is more inflation.

Well that was my argument, this was true 30 years ago. this didnt happen yesterday.
A lot of people in my generation think they should be able to afford their own house or condo at 30.
My parents with 2 incomes were still renting at 30. They didnt buy their first home until I was in middle school.
Yet these single millennials think they should be able to afford a 417k home on one salary?
That wasnt happening before either.

So if you were running a business, and that business was making 1M a year for the last 10 years, you just took it over. So that’s the expectation, that’s the balanced budget, 1M per year. Suddenly a new wage increase happens that’s going to lower that to 75K. What you gonna do? You good with getting fired? Or are you gonna find a way to make up that loss?

So either you consider $40k per job "high paying," or you were just full of shite with the 2 high paying jobs cliam.

Franchise owners are not McDonald's corporate, you absolute idiot.

I’m saying they need a higher paying job than the average of $74k a year
Cause I would imagine it’s pretty difficult to live comfortably on $74k unless you’re happy living paycheck to paycheck and never owning anything

and this is my question from the start WHY?
I just answered you from a public, corporate standpoint. Lending rates, stock evaluations, bonuses,
I didn’t even touch on the people really impacted in this minimum wage rate hike, franchise owners. As others have said, these guys are doing well, but their number one cost is labor. If you see a 10% spike in labor, chances are you are now relatively close to break even.
At some point, even if you’re making $1 million/yr, if you need to spend $100 million to make it, you’re probably better off just closing up shop and using your money in a more profitable venture.

Wait, so not two high paying jobs now? So you were making shite up. Glad we got that squared away.

$74k is $17.78 an hour for each person working in the household

Who would fire me? did you mean 750K a year? I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you did.
If I'm the owner I would have zero problem with this. If I'm working for a owner who wants to fire me because of this then that isn't someone I want to be working for in the first place.

Salaries and pay across the board have been way too stagnant for way too long in this country. To where the average middle class family has to have both parents work full time high paying jobs to live comfortably and not paycheck to paycheck
Something happened in the 1970’s that essentially doubled the work force pool but I can’t quite think of what it is.

Where does a 16 year old void with no experience get a job with these idiotic wages?
Posted on 4/3/24 at 2:36 pm to Smeg
More expensive burgers while maintaining subpar quality. Sounds like good times.
I mean really, who didn’t see this coming? You don’t have to actually have a business degree to know that increased costs cause prices to go up for the consumer, the same consumers who saw an increase in pay with an increase in the cost to eating their food.
When are people going to finally come to grips with the fact that raising the minimum wage does not help people as job training and better employment to sustain themselves with does?

Great question. I remember my first job at a hardware store at 15 yo making $5.50 an hour. I probably wasnt worth that bc I knew literally nothing. Someone had to either explain or show me everything. Customers would come in & ask me what tool they needed for a certain job & I had no clue. I couldn't imagine someone having to pay 15 yo me $20+ an hour.

We have had about 6 minimum wage threads on this board since Monday and not one minimum wage supporter has indicated even the slightest grasp of basic economics.
It’s truly sad what our education system has churned out
Hey finkle, learn basic math before running your mouth on ceo pay
McDonald’s had about 1.9 million employees (including franchises) as of 2015.
If you reduced the CEO’s salary to $0 and transferred it to employees, each would get about $5/year more.

Exactly like I said yesterday my buddy is a grocery store manager.
They went to automated checkout
80-90 high school kids back in the day
Now 20 or so
