A guy who’s terrified to score is never amounting to anything on that end

I’m not a stan, but hating on a 19-20 year old dude coming off of a 2 month layoff is crazy. Especially when star level players are generally rusty when they come back as well.

He's not the difference in this game, Pels generating no offense, but for sure Dyson can't be this passive on offense.

Rusty?

He’s passing up wide open threes

He’s an offensive liability at this point

And he's in his 2nd year, he just turned 21 a few weeks ago, and it was known coming in that offense was his weakness. You guys need to learn some patience.

He's a professional basketball player. Give a little effort on the offensive end and don't pass up wide open 6 footers in the lane. If he was missing them because of the yips or something, then fine. But give some effort. If he's too young to take open shots he shouldn't be playing.

Cool, so you admit he shouldn’t be playing at the moment?

He’s clearly not ready

You give it up. He was one of the top on ball defenders in the league before he turned 21. That's rare. That's DPOY level potential. Even with his terrible offensive production, he's still a net positive player with a 5.1 NetRtg.

I'm not saying give him all the minutes. I already said earlier in the year they shouldn't be playing Dyson over Jose if Jose is producing better. Dyson is probably not going to improve during the season. He's going to have to spend his summer working on his game, getting confidence in his 3 point shot like Herb has, and finding a goto move when attacking the basket. His floater seems like a good place to start. Herb had that Eurostep that has served him well.

Keep that same energy while Hawk is having a down turn currently

I mean he gets us turnovers but against good teams it doesn’t matter he kills our spacing. You wonder if its better playing Naji and Trey more than giving minutes to Dyson. I feel he was inserted and the flow we had on offense was completely gone.

It’s a pretty similar situation. I think Hawk + Trey is what lets you walk away from CJ when the money gets too tight.

ATL, at what point do the Dyson apologists see the light? What do you need to see? Set the goal post so we know when you’ll give the frick up.

He’s elite on one side of the ball and you’re acting like he’s Jaxson Hayes 2.0. I just don’t even understand where you’re coming from.

One way players on good teams? List them?

ETA: there are none. Year 2 and every shooting number says he’s worse now than when he started. It’s imperative that when you draft someone who doesn’t work out that you cut bait and move on. Don’t F’ing love the guy just because you drafted him. This past deadline he prob had some value, what is his value now? Let me answer that, it’s fricking no value. It’s a tough business. “Hope is it a plan.”

I’ve also said in the past that I don’t think Dyson will be here long term. If you don’t show near All Star potential early, you usually are with another team by or during your 2nd contract. I’m not quite sure what you’re advocating, but it seems like you want to “cut our losses” and just let Dyson wither on the bench and decline as an asset until he does become Jaxson 2.0. Even if you don’t believe in him, that is not the approach to take.
