What are your favorites?

I almost prefer listening to live Albums. I say almost cuz it definitely depends on the band.

I post this thread today for selfish reason.
Because on this day in 1991, The Cure released “Entreat” - a live album recorded at London's Wembley Arena in July 1989.
Full Concert

It consists entirely of songs performed from the band's 1989 record “Disintegration”
The Cure is one of those bands that sound amazing live.

Robert Smith vocals are so impressive live even on their most recent tour last year.

Pretty much despise them. I do love Live at Gruene Hall though.

Van Morrison - It’s too late to stop now

It may be the best live album ever… solid gold

Talking Heads - Stop Making Sense

A close second

Check out the Cure in Orange (video) if you haven't already.

Supertramp - Live in Paris
Fear - Live...For the Record
King Crimson has a few great live albums.
Rush - Exit Stage Left (love the live YYZ version)
Cheap Trick's live music was always better than their studio stuff...fact.

Pink Floyd May 9 1977 in Oakland, CA.

Animal Instincts, or Mr Pig. Mr Pig has a bit more bass.

They are bootlegs, tho.

I want to, but it seems like you often have to adjust your expectations to enjoy many live performances.
But those that do sound good are a much higher level of enjoyment.

This is the more interesting question

Depends on context/performer

Some performers, most obviously Springsteen, are far greater live than in studio. And a live recording often captures some of that.

In the case of the Velvet Underground's '69 Live, the album adds previously unknown aspects to the band's canon, not just in song versions but even in the way Reed interacts w/the audience. It isn't just rehashing hits but an indispensable document enhancing the band's output.

Not a huge jam band guy but “Light Fuse Get Away” is pretty awesome

Also love “Live From The Iveagh Gardens” by Josh Ritter. Every time I listen I can’t help but wish I was there myself. Change of Time must’ve been an unbelievable experience

Lynyrd Skynyrd One More From the Road was a favorite for me back in the day. I used to listen to Ted Nugent Double Live Gonzo a fair bit to.

No.

I do like watching the live performances on tv, however, while pumping through my audio system.

I like a lot of the live stuff from Devin Townsend Project. I have The Retinal Circus and the By A Thread Live boxset. The Royal Albert Hall show has some gems.

Probably not to the taste of most of the people here, but I listen to The Weeknd Live at SoFi Stadium a lot.

Plus I have a handful of bootlegs from concerts I attended.

"If you find yourself in the Rocky Mountains when the wind comes up and the sun goes down, you can find yourself in a whole lot of trouble people. . ."

You don't get that in the studio. Or just how well Gary can talk with his geetar.

Majority of my listening is live music, but only a small percentage are actual albums.
