I don’t expect much but him playing motivated is the only chance we have at generating a pass rush next season so I don’t hate taking the shot.
I think him, plus Payton Turner (who has looked decent at times, just injured a lot) and Foskey (still an unknown) gives us a decent shot at having a good 2nd rusher

I don't love it but I don't hate it. Chase is a very low producer but he's got alot of potential. We're overpaying a tad but at least its a 1 year prove it deal. Would make a little more sense if we were in a position to 'win now'. Worst part is if he does end up having a great year we won't be able to re-sign him.

I’m told Chase Young’s recruiting pitch started at dinner last night with All-Pro safety Tyrann Mathieu, HC Dennis Allen, DC Joe Woods and D-Line coach Todd Grantham.

If he plays well and we don’t resign him, at least we’d get comp picks.

Ehh signing. We need a pass rusher. He’s a sub par pass rusher. Shouldn’t impact our cap too much. If it works it works. If it doesn’t it doesn’t. We didn’t trade anything for him or anything.
I think this means we go OT and DT in the draft.
Ruke Orhorhoro is an interesting prospect. 6’4”, 295 lbs DT from Clemson. From Nigeria and only started playing football as a junior in high school. Very athletic, but raw. And has history with Bresee.

Are there any examples of disappointments like Young putting it together ?
Hassan reddick is one that comes to mind in recent years

I realize the later in the draft, the less likely the player is to make an impact. But this team really isn’t in a position to trade a bunch of low picks for a higher low pick. They need depth across the board, ST players, and hopefully land a decent starter in the later rounds.

I don't think we have room for 6 picks in rnd 5-6
For fun:
1st round - about 50% of players drafted in the 1st round developed into solid NFL starters.
2nd round - about 33% of players drafted in the 2nd round developed into solid NFL starter. From here, it dropped by 50% per round.
3rd round - about 16%.
4th round - about 8%.
5th round - about 4-5%.
6th round - about 2%.
7th round - about 1-2%.

Gonna blow up this year. Maybe literally.
But in the theatre of the weird imagine Foskey getting it this year. Turner healthy for 17 games. Young plays all 17 games and enjoys football again. Cam returns and Bresee improves.
Whats that...200 sacks

Those are percentages to be starters. Wonder what the success rate for those rounds to be 3-5 year players.

I wonder if Cam slides inside more next season. In an imaginary world where Turner is healthy and Foskey is worth playing, with Granderson and now Young also in the mix, is there enough playing time for all of those guys?

According to ESPN’s Pass Rush Win Rate, Young ranks No. 11 in the NFL among EDGE defenders. Per ESPN analytics, Young has had 134 pass-rush plays, and he has won on 32 of those plays, meaning he’s winning at a clip of 24%.
That was at the mid way point of the season last year. He still hasn’t lived up to his hype but to act like he’s just some guy just isn’t true. They signed Cedrick Wilson but he’s probably just depth. They need another playmaker at WR

OT yes. But I see them going after cheaper DTs later unless Sweat falls to them in Round 2.

I’d be shocked if our 1st pick isn’t OL
But knowing us, we’ll pick Cooper Dejean who can play multiple spots in the secondary. We know Allen loves versatility.
