Those leaks were embarrassing for Macron.
Not as much as the German zoom call of generals talking about how to blow up bridges with long range Taurus missiles and not letting anyone know it was Germany but still embarrassing nonetheless.

This level of stupidity is tiring.

What leverage would Trump have that NATO presently does not? Other than withdrawing the amount of forces from Poland and maybe a few from Romania?

None that I know of. Nothing that Putin would take seriously given Trump's rhetoric on supporting NATO.

Well yea, now. Why would they ever negotiate when they’ve completely crushed Ukrainian moral and manpower?
The time to negotiate was April of the first year… but Biden sent Boris to squash that deal, and it’s all been downhill from there

Unconditional Surrender.
If the Russian leadership estimates with some certainty that they can sustain this effort to the extent that Ukraine must Unconditionally Surrender, I expect Russia to require Unconditional Surrender and not some negotiated settlement.
But, can Russia sustain this effort to that extent?

Economic and security, although Moscow would not trust the bureaucracy in DC to respect any settlements.

The US is the only participant that's continuing this war.
Two years ago the Ukraine and Russia were close to negotiations, but the US basically told Ukraine we still have money and you still have men, so keep fighting.
President Trump can stop it unless the cia/fbi interfere with the presidents constitutional authority.

Listen here O-T badass... Russia already tried to negotiate, then NATO and the US sent Boris Johnson's sorry arse to break that up.

lol I’ll take that bet.
1) he’s a coin flip to even have a chance to. Who knows what’ll happen in Nov.
2) There’s no way Russia/Putin are going to pivot off their Ukraine policy because the US has a different president. What a spectacularly naive and absurd take.
*unless you’re calling simply letting them have it, a “negotiation”. If/when they take over Ukraine, it will be brutal.

Your premise is that they haven't done so now because they are unable?

Russia would have settled for NATO neutrality twice (Dec 2021 and April 2022). I don't think they trust most parties who would handle the negotiations now. Can't blame them for going for the kill.
Who cares what Russia wants. We don’t cower to communists.
I say beef up NATO more.

Russia and Ukraine had agreed to peace talks and the west jerked Zylenski's chain. Russia has been goaded into this after decades of poking by America and NATO. They are pissed.
But personally, I think they would negotiate peace, as long as they keep the part of Ukraine they now occupy. I don't think Russia wants all of Ukraine, only what they now occupy.

Does it really matter why they haven’t yet in this context?
I assume they would’ve by now if it was as easy as some here think. Given how much fake info/propaganda is out there (specifically about how good or bad things are going and for whom) it’s really hard to know the truth.
