The public isnt in any danger if your barber isnt certified through the state.
Your barber isnt any safer just because the State declares he has enough hours of practice.

Yes, if there's one thing we can comfortably assume our state's current arcane licensing requirements are doing, it's stemming the tide of personal injury lawsuits in Louisiana.

Just let all law school graduates be sworn in as lawyers like the 2020 covid year. Southern Law school will feast with a 1000% increase in new applications.

The best way to do this is to eliminate any of the frivolous licenses and reform the system to allow licenses provided from other states to be good here. That would allow for licenses pros to move here and continue to do business without incurring more costs.
Reciprocity is allowed in Louisiana for lawyers, should be for other professions as well.
ETA: I have that backwards, reciprocity is not allowed in Lousisiana

It's good in an economic development perspective. I know one guy who wants to move back Lafayette but is holding back on it due to licensing requirements for his profession. He has all of licenses from Texas but would apparently have to retake a test, class, and pay a $1500 fee to get his license in Louisiana.

Make it easier to create / fill jobs because the state isn’t making people jump through inane hoops as a cash grab.

That's incorrect. Louisiana does not allow full time admission of lawyers who are admitted in any other jurisdictions without them first passing the Louisiana bar exam, despite some other jurisdictions allowing lawyers who are admitted in Louisiana to gain full time admission without them having to pass those states' bar exams.

You're right, i had that backwards.
It's allowed in Texas and some other states, but not here due to our code.

That's right. Our fancy French words for certain legal concepts are way too different from their common law counterparts to justify reciprocity.

Fire Systems Contractors are required to go through extensive training and become licensed by the state.
We pay fees to the State fire marshals office for the company and every person, every year.
Make any changes to personnel, more fees.
We pay fees to have every system approved.
In several cities we also pay fees to the cities.
Then after that if you do any projects over a certain dollar amount you have to go through the contractors board to get certified by them.
Then they charge you a large fee just to renew your license.
After our initial certification by them, the only time we hear from them is our renewal statement in the mail.
Over burdened.

Florists needing a state license to sell plants is absurdly ridiculous.
I am 100% in favor of the changes and think that a license to ARRANGE flowers is nuts. But I have to point out that
SELLING is another story entirely given invasive species, spreadable plant diseases, and often questionable sourcing methods. There is a legit need for regulation there that people don't often understand

Of course something like you would say that. You’re a homo and pedophile and condone that sort of activity.
What should also happen is stuff like you not be allowed to pretend to practice law.

Doesn’t mean that someone won’t sue if an unlicensed barber cuts them while giving a haircut. Louisiana is a very litigious state, as we all know.

How about a notary license? A lot of states don’t require the process we do.
This is a big one. Most states you just take an online class, pay a fee, and get your notary.
Here you have to know contract law, wills, and mortgage law. All to basically verify that someone’s signature matched their identification.
