It really was just 1 simple push...that's it
Flau'jae had a slight arm up before.
Shove.
Minor touch from HVL.
/end

These types of on the court altercations are common in basketball. It’s pretty much why I decided to quit watching the sport on any level. The proximity to other players, the same players, for that amount of time, mixed in with the physicality that has developed in the game make it inevitable that players will lose their cool. 20 years ago the sport had a more controlled approach to the elbowing, hip checks, tripping, and hands to the face.

It goes back to the officials. Al Mcguire use to say a quick whistle the game is being called tightly a slow whistle the game will be physical. In today's game they usually just suck on their whistles. The game has changed some teams play alot of players, these players foul alot officials get tired of calling fouls and so the game gets a lot more rough and then fights happen. Call it the John Thompson effect or Georgetown effect whatever you want. Not a fan of Staley but she has brought this into the women's game and she is undefeated. It will start to trickle down to other teams. Coaches are copycats NFL use to be smash mouth not anymore pass, pass, pass. Baseball gorilla ball and then small ball. It all runs in cycles.

When the shorts got longer and we got away from the bounce pass things really went downhill. There’s no pride in a crisp layup anymore. It’s a different game.

i think the theatrics, flopping, flailing arms etc, along with refs giving preferential treatment to star players, plays a huge roll in this. call the game by the rules, not by the moment.

Well, Shannon Sharpe's mind might explode. Granted it would be a small explosion, but it could pop.

Are you sure you really watched basketball at any point beyond the last few years? The game used to be MUCH more physical than it is now and fights FAR worse than this little push and shove were commonplace. Jordan, Bird, Ewing, Dr. J, Barkley, Kareem, the entire Detroit Piston's team, etc were often getting into fights. Not a couple of pushes. But actual punches thrown. Guys went inside at their own peril because they knew the hard contact was likely coming. They all laugh at the faux "physicality" of today's game. That's why you hear Mulkey laughing at the notion this was a "fight". She played in an era where the game was actually physical.
Basketball is as non-physical today as it has ever been largely due to the emphasis on increased three point shooting and spacing. If this level of "physicality" bothers you, PLEASE do yourself a favor and avoid watching games from the 70's, 80's, and 90's

In the eyes of the media, Kim is crucified whether she speaks on something, or whether she doesn’t speak on something.
She can’t win because they hate her.

It’s brought attn to WBB, good or bad
I’m sure it’ll help ratings especially if they meet again.
Let’s move on

Only at the nba level. And maybe to a slight extent mncaa.
But wncaa, all hs levels AAU and beyond it is pretty prevalent to have games devolve into shoving matches.
Go back and watch the SC game. Raven Johnson hand checked HVL the entire game. And we rarely had a rebound where there wasn’t someone pushing on us as we came down with it. Players for one team shouldn’t hit the floor that often.

To be fair though, if it happened to LeBron he likely ends up in the ER.

Some people never hooped at the public playground and it shows.
It goes 0-100 real quick when two competitors are battling and there is nobody there to blow the whistle.
Dawn Staley knows this LSU team is more talented than hers, they just are not completely playing and gelling as a team yet. She wanted HVL and Morrow bad.
Thanks for the bulletin board material and shot in the arm, see them in the tourney.
My money is on LSU game 3.
