LA school strike
Posted by elmo 57 on 4/14/26 at 9:15 am
The Los Angeles unified school district strike that was suppose to take place today was averted. The teachers union agreed to a deal that would teacher pay by 13.86%. Starting teachers salary would be 77,000 dollars. Seems like they are going to take care of the teachers and workers in LA. Maybe Louisiana teachers could learn a lesson from this and just walkout a couple of days and get a substantial increase in pay.
Superintendent Letter
Posted by elmo 57 on 4/13/26 at 8:41 am
Just before Easter holidays Allen parish teachers received and email from the superintendent. In the letter he covered the May 16th election about amendment 3. He was basically saying if this passes and teachers get a raise from the state, then Allen parish would no longer be able to pay out the stipends they have been giving out. The stipends are around 4000 dollars altogether as compared to Vernon who gives 12000 dollars to their teachers. He also said he couldn’t use co2 money for teachers because he nor the board could do this. I don’t understand this either. Also enrollment is down parish wide so we are losing MFP money. So I can’t tell if he was trying to get votes for the amendment or against it. I find it hard to believe he wrote this because he never explains anything it’s his way or no way. Maybe one of his high priced Assistant superintendents wrote it . That would make more sense. Very strange that they will possibly not give out stipends anymore. Since we lost the Indian money ( coushatta) we have been getting stipends. Where was that money during the Doucet-Reed days. Something is not adding up. With all the raises the school board has received maybe they spent too much money. Who knows? Don’t think will ever find out the truth.
Travel ball has all these kids and I am talking high school thinking they will be playing at LSU. Well maybe not the kid maybe it’s the dad thinking that. So consequently the kids want to play only one sport. It is called Specialization. Years ago you had 2 and 3 sport athletes who enjoyed playing everything also you didn’t have the injuries you had today because of over use. It is the same thing for travel basketball. Any coach will tell you one sport helps the other, but not the father who thinks junior is the next Mike Trout. Listen to the podcast with Steve Kerr, Dave Roberts, and Pete Carrol the pros want kids that have played more than one sport. There is always time to specialize. Will we ever have another Bo Jackson, Deion Sanders,Dave Winfield, Jim Brown.
MICHIGAN -UCONN finals
Posted by elmo 57 on 4/6/26 at 9:57 pm
This game is not very well played. A very physical game. Shooting has been horrible. Officials are terrible Anderson is a showboat, Breeding has no business calling the finals and Kissinger calls like he was taught by the all time worst official John Higgins. Very disappointing finals.
I know several landowners in the Swla area that are dealing with with Oxy and Exxon trying to take their land run pipelines for the co2. Funny thing is some of them have worked for aegis chemical solutions who go out to wells and pump chemicals out of them straight into the ground. No one is complaining about that! Several of these guys will tell you they put stuff into the ground that is 100 times worse than co2. Then you have land owners who worked for the oil and gas industry in Lake Charles and did worse things there and now they are drawing big time retirement checks but they don’t want their property messed with. I guess it is ok to do bad things to the environment as long as you don’t get caught are it helps you make money. Neither side is right. Please stop using the old hillbilly ways of saying you are protecting the land for your grandkids. Guess what your grandkids are going to end up selling that land to some big industry one day. You cannot stop progress are should I say the federal government.
That's it blame the coach. How many games in the blessed EYBL have the Duke Mickey D's kids played in with a shotclock and they didn't know to just hold the ball with exactly 10 seconds left. Come on now they freaked out just like other teenagers have done over the years. No one to blame here it was just meant to be for UCONN to win. Even when you get every call it sometimes comes back to bite you in the butt. Now Duke can reload with more Mickey D's kids and win a ton of regular season games and then choke it away again. Not the staffs fault you play as much as those kids play you should know the time and situation. No one had the confidence to hold the ball and be the man at the end and shoot free throws.
School Boards
Posted by elmo 57 on 3/27/26 at 1:09 pm
Can anyone possibly shed some light on why a small school board like Allen parish has a superintendent and also 2 assistant superintendents. Doesn’t make sense when a big parish like Calcasieu has only one. What was the political reasoning for this decision? I was doing some research and ran into this. For such a small parish that is very poor that is a lot of money to me being wasted.
re: Former NJ middle school teacher charged after alleged relationship with student
Posted by elmo 57 on 3/27/26 at 8:59 am to Major Dutch Schaefer
Don’t know what is wrong with people. Back in 2019 till 22. A female teacher who taught in Allen and Vernon parish was caught messing with 4 high school boys. She went to trial was found guilty. The good part in Vernon she was sentenced to six months in jail not nearly enough time. In the great parish of Allen she got 5 days to serve non consecutive. Just so happens the judge in Allen was a friend of the family. The same deal had been cut in Vernon but that judge changed his mind and gave her 6 months. I am not sure if she even served the days in Allen. Now that is a travesty of justice. Life lesson it’s not what you know it’s who you know. If that was a man they would be rotting in prison. The judicial system is crap.
A. Hudson USA Basketball
Posted by elmo 57 on 3/25/26 at 8:47 am
Just saw on max preps that Hudson was invitied to usa basketball mini camp at the final four. For classes of 27,28,29. Only Louisiana player that got the invite. Hopefully he will see he can play 2 sports in college after playing against top level competition.

Both of them are the real deal. Glad to see them playing 2 sports. You can tell it definitely helped them this season. Brewer is headed probably to the SEC for basketball. Wouldn't be surprised if McAllister tried to play both. Both are extremely quick, jump real well, and they have great hands needed in both sports.
Ncaa Tournament Officials
Posted by elmo 57 on 3/23/26 at 2:34 pm
Through the first 2 rounds the officials have not been to good. Now that there are less games maybe only the best officials will call the sweet 16 and elite 8 games. Hard to believe some of the calls they miss. Is it me are does it seem that Duke is going to catch every break. Also I was hoping for Iowa to win but the Iowa player threw a punch. Even with replay they missed that one. Sometimes I feel like I am watching the LhSAA refs calling the state Championships. Hopefully St. John's can upset Duke. Maybe Pitino can intimidate the refs and take that advantage away from Duke.

Hudson could be a multi millionaire in 2 years. If he goes to the NBA and NIL in college would make that possibility a lot sooner. After his performance in the state finals the sky is the limit in basketball. I have said it before he is the second coming of Karl Malone.
I read somewhere that he has a little brother that will be a freshman in the fall at Ruston. Is he as big and athletic as his brother?
LHSAA Top 28
Posted by elmo 57 on 3/14/26 at 11:24 am
What a game by the two kids from Gibsland-Coleman. 1 and 34 they carried their team to the class C championship. 1 scored 47 points he was unbelievable in the second half made shots from everywhere layups and threes. One of the all time best performances I have ever seen. To make it even better they beat Coach Carlisle the greatest coach/recruiter ever just ask him. Saturday should be a great day as well Country Day and Calvary. John Curtis and Karr Nola rivalry. Then the big dogs Ruston and Zachary if Ruston plays as a team they will win. Feed Hudson he makes everyone better. Good luck everyone.
He brought the AURA back!!!!!
Mcneese SLC champions
Posted by elmo 57 on 3/11/26 at 8:40 pm
Cowboys did it again 3 years in a row. Going to the big dance. The big 3 was tremendous today Garcia, Johnson, and Archie. Only negative Orkus, Shannon, and Ramnanan were terrible just like last year. If I remember correctly 2 of them had the finals then. Striped shirts should go unnoticed. The review process took so long. They reviewed so many calls. I thought if it was done correctly review helps move the game along. They review then huddle up and talk it out. They want to be seen. As one official once told me hey I am just as important as the players. Sorry wrong you can and will be replaced. Whoever is the head of the SLC officials needs to be replaced. To much drama by the stripes. Don’t give me the standard why don’t you call I do. Hope I am not that bad and arrogant.
re: Girls basketball Marsh Madness state tournament begins today

If the coach from Oak Grove maybe spent sometime on skill development with some of those girls that would definitely be a big help. Sorry but all of them except Bradley can only dribble with one hand. Also if you can drive it and then throw it up to her she would average 40 points. Also some shooters would be nice to stretch the defense for her. Got to put in more work if they want her to go out next year winning state.
LHSAA Email
Posted by elmo 57 on 3/3/26 at 6:58 am
An LHSAA email was sent out yesterday afternoon thanking principals for their participation in the meetings last week. Then in the last paragraph it was stated that the legislature was not pleased with what was passed. When the legislature meets later this month they will basically take over the LHSAA and open enrollment will take place for 9,10,11 grades. Then all schools will be select and the split is over. In some ways I agree and in some ways I don’t. So let the fun and transfers begin.

Hey it’s the year 2026 everyone gets a trophy. Some of theses games will be so bad and boring that you can sleep through them. Sorry if that offends anyone but these are the state championships, the games should be competitive not so watered down that no one cares.
Ruston Basketball
Posted by elmo 57 on 3/2/26 at 10:27 am
The Bearcats open the playoffs at home versus Barbe. I will take the Bearcats by at least 25. Barbe loaded up its schedule by playing smaller schools most of the season. That will not be helpful againist Hudson and company. If they win they will probably get Sulphur in the quarterfinals. Same district as Barbe they also loaded up on smaller schools and they are very physical don't think that will work on the Bearcats as well. Hoping for a Zachary-Ruston nonslect division 1 final could possibly be epic.
Is it true he will be heading to U High to play with Kiffin's son?
