That idiot Baldwin deserves some time in jail.

The armorer has to assume that everyone downstream is a freaking moron, especially the actor that'll be using the weapon. They have to know their arse is the one on the line and act accordingly.

Is it common to have real bullets at a movie shoot? And to have real guns at a movie shoot? There was some stupid going on in that low budget production.

You can’t expect every idiot actor to be a firearms expert.

I've taken children hunting many times and I expect a fricking 8-year old to know with absolute certainty whether or not his gun is loaded. "Someone told me it wasn't loaded" is no excuse for a child much less a grown man.

Alec Baldwin was just an actor when the accident happened.

I was just 6 when I knew I was responsible for my gun

Is this a PT topic only because he mocked Trump with his impersonation?

Those of us old enough to shave remember how vocal Baldwin was about wanting Dick Cheney to go to jail over a hunting accident. And Baldwin killed an actual person, with a soul. Cheney just winged a lawyer.

Only way "justice" is served is if Baldwin gets charged with something.

Baldwin should not be convicted of a crime, however he should be on the hook for penalties in a civil court. Baldwin the actor would be nearly blameless, in my opinion. But Baldwin the Producer is guilty of hiring an inexperienced nitwit as armorer. That is actionable negligence; it’s not a crime, though.

I do.

They are of the mindset that Baldwin is “too stupid” and doesn’t understand firearms, therefore he shouldn’t face any repercussions.
No, not that reason. There should not have been a gun capable of firing real ammo any where near that set.

This is my take as well.

I also don't agree with people comparing this incident to hunting or just any normal use of a firearm. A movie set is not your typical deer hunting trip. There is never a time when a hunting rifle should be pointed at a person. Whereas, on a movie set, it's very likely. In fact, it's the script. So no, I don't hold actors to the same safety standards as the typical gun handler.

The thing is, live ammo should never be on a movie set. And if there are fully functional weapons on a set, they should be under the direct supervision of an armorer at all times.

And the same people telling us he’s not at all responsible would be telling us to throw away the key if it was Joe Rogan and not Alec Baldwin.

No, I don’t think so. When a gun is handed to an actor by the armorer to be used in a movie set, there should be a zero percent chance of live rounds being in the gun. Zero.

To think he goes to jail asinine. He's Alec Baldwin.

I’m not a fan of Alec Baldwin, but not sure about him being found guilty in this case. In a civil case, I think it’s highly likely he will be held partially liable as he should. From my understanding he hired the armorer. One thing that should come out of all of this is there is no reason to have live rounds on the set. With all the crap Hollywood has demanded for diversity they should be able to do this.

Right. People in this thread are out of their head. "You don't point guns at people in movies or squeeze the trigger".
What I want to know is WHO brought live ammo on a movie set?
And to the foaming at the mouth crowd... Alec is going to be sued in civil court and rightfully lose his arse!

I don't care.

He committed a crime.

He should expect to do his time.

My understanding from news stories is that the armorer was employed by the production company. That means that the production company is liable for the negligence of the armorer. There should be no doubt about that.

According to Baldwin, he didn't pull the trigger but the gun pulled the trigger by itself.

Lol
He was spitballing sh!t on that answer. He's a dead duck in civil court. He should settle but being a arrogant prick he most likely won't.

Then they shouldn't be lecturing people on guns then become hypocrites when they shoot and kill a person.
