The watch looks great but I'm not a great fan of white dials. I rather dark blue or black, especially with a silver casing.

I have a vintage Zodiac with white dial and gold hands and indices. Looks fantastic but with my eyesight it's hard as hell to tell the time in anything but full daylight.

Why do you care what people spend their money on? It’s not like he’s hiring a Life Coach, for heaven’s sake.

This sounds dumb but I feel if I’m going to fork multiple thousand on a watch I’d like the in house movement vs eta.

One could make the argument ETA is in-house(ish) for Omega but I understand the point but it is also a desire driven by the internet over the last 15 years.

It is funny you showed the AP ROO Chrono since it only very recently gain an in-house movement itself. It wasn't until 2021 that the ROO had a true fully in-house movement. BTW the ROO-C is a chunkster, 43mm, 53mm lug to lug and over 15mm thick.

This is not directed specifically at you just an observation I have made over the years and it described me to a T many years ago. When people decide they want a "nice watch" unless they have a built in specific desire (often a Sub) they start shopping and researching. As time goes by they develop a list of attributes this watch has to have like:

in-house
certain size diameter/lug to lug/thickness
display back
screw down crown
XXX meters of water resistance
an on-the-fly adjustable clasp
a certain color of Superluminova
chronograph/dive watch/GMT/dress
COSC cert
no date or date window in a specific place with a specific treatment
ad infinitum

Pretty soon the list of boxes to check makes their watch a Unicorn. Every new watch that gets released is marked off the list as soon as one of the boxes isn't ticked. YOu can see these people on watch forums when a new watch is released. The posts read like "if they had just _____ it would be perfect." At some point, you have to shite or get off the pot it is difficult to do but most people that make the leap find that the water is fine. For better or worse they usually start formulating the perfect 3 watch rotation before they get all the stickers off the new watch. Because now they see they can tick all their boxes they just need "one more watch" to accomplish it. N+1 is a helluva thing.

TLDR this diatribe:

Charles Louis de Secondat, Baron de La Brede et de Montesquieu while not brief in name and title was very succinct regarding this idea:

"The better is the mortal enemy of the good" or the more modern aphorism "perfect is the enemy of good." The baw version is something like "don't let Monday get in the way of your Sunday." My version is shite that bugs you when looking at a watch face on the screen blown up to the size of a dinner plate is magnitudes more offputting than it is on your wrist.

LOL my TLD is near the length of my diatribe.

Favorite Speedmaster is the Mitsukoshi

I have always like those. My favorite white Speedys are the Alsaka Project followed closely by the Apollo 13th 45th anniversary. The latter exploded in price just as they were released and have climbed to $40k give or take.

I can't bring myself to be a fan. I have the most recent version of the Speedy Pro Moonwatch with the Hesalite crystal mostly out of a nod to history. I do appreciate the METAS certified chronometer movement, and finally Omega has made a decent bracelet after years of finding itself lacking. One of the few things that makes it more wearable for me is the way the end links fall straight down instead of flaring out and the lug to lug is reasonable coming in at 47 mm. And the darn think is just so legible with the black matte textured dial so well executed. I just like to look at it way more than wear it though, and like pretty much all Speedys, it's a bitch to wind with how that crown sucks into the case.

Can’t decide amongst that one or a IWC aqua master, Brietling, or one of the other Omegas.

Speedy Racing AKA reduced that is 39mm.
Speedmaster ‘57 is 40mm, but i think they’re all two counters which might not be what the poster above is looking for.

I love the 42mm case of my moonwatch. Feels just right, and I don’t have huge wrists by any means.

Just recently bought a Tudor Black Bay 58 which is a 39mm. To me it’s a great watch for everyday wear.

I’ve seen better wrist watches in the quad.

(Am I saying that correctly?)

I just got this watch.for my son this Christmas

I’m a Breitling guy, but I’m leaning towards a Rolex Submariner as a gift to myself.

Also has broad arrow hands, and straight as opposed to lyre lugs and the Ed White style bracelet. I would trade my speedy pro Moon for the green or blue dial version of the '57 in a heartbeat, but wouldn't want it bad enough to add cash for that deal.
