Is that what you meant by "pitched great"?

No, I meant by pitching great in that he filled the zone and got a lot of weak contact.

I could see Anderson/Cam eat up midweek games. Anderson you said is coming back and Cam needs to refine his craft or get his game rolling again. Anyway those 2 pitchers will be key pitchers later in the season if we get in a 4 game situation. That's not counting other pitchers that can definitely get going.

I’m of the mind that Kade remains a midweek starter, but if Javen really needs the extra warm up time as a starter and isn’t able to come out of the pen, then it may end up being Javen as the midweek guy and Kade becomes our lefty long relief guy on the weekends.

I would let Coleman’s performance and his arm health make that decision ultimately, as he’s proven he has the stuff to compete as a starter in the SEC.

Coleman is going to pitch on the weekends regardless of whether he starts or not.

Hurd pitched great this weekend and has the most MLB-ready stuff on the team. He's a great Sunday starter.

Hurd did pitch well but Gage Jump has the most MLB ready stuff.

I think they will figure out how to get Coleman ready for weekend innings. I know he prefers to start, and does so because of the prep, but so do most guys. It will take some trial and error.

Kade will likely get midweek starts but eventually on a pitch count and dependent on his weekend usage prior.

Jay almost always plays the midweek by ear. He pitches the guys that didn't get time on the weekend. He'll use who he needs to on the weekend before even worrying about the midweek.

Talked with a veteran California high school coach, while in Houston. Said we got two good ones in Kade Anderson and Gage Jump.

Anderson would have been a top 5 round draft pick out of high school if he hadn’t blown out his elbow his junior year.

Jay at one point said Jump was one of the best HS Pitchers he has ever seen and has consistently said Anderson wouldn’t be here if he didn’t get injured in HS.

would leave him in the midweek starting role for now to make sure he gets is work in

It's a luxury to have a 4th starter, but a necessity to have a 3rd one. We're one tired arm away from him being that guy...

He seems too valuable a pitcher to continue to throw against directional schools on wednesday, and while having a 4th starter is nice, is he better served pitching 7 innings or throwing 4 against SEC Hitters?

Honestly, for his development keeping him in the midweek role for now is the best option. He will certainly come into play during SEC play and during the post season but with the pitching depth we have there is no reason to hold him for SEC play.

No it's not. Most D1 teams don't have a solid 3rd starter. Did you just start following college baseball when you found out LSU won the Natty last year ?

For the time being yes. 4-5 innings and then let some other guys get work like Coleman, Moffit, etc. That will probably change come late April/early May.

You could make the argument that it may be more valuable to continue starting him midweek and stretching his pitch count if he wont be in the weekend rotation. Having another quality starter in SECT / postseason will be huge.

Did you just become a a fig last year after taking a dick up your arse?

FACT: you have to start 3 pitchers every series
