A lot of people that use marijuana are also trying to manage stress. Stress also contributes to stroke and heart attack.

It’s bc of the potency level in weed now.

How would more THC increase risks of heart attack or stroke?

Does increased nicotine intake result in more heart attacks or strokes?

Still gonna smoke weed all day every day

That’s pathetic. I’m not against weed at all. I usually smoke a little at night to wind down and like how it makes video games and music more fun. But all day everyday is excessive. I’ve been there before and it got so bad I couldn’t eat in the morning before I lit up and got high. Credit to you if your body can handle it but I feel much better using only once a day

Inhaling particulate matter isn’t good huh? I wonder if cavemen stood over the fire inhaling nonstop?

Much like any overdose of any compound, there are often deleterious effects.

Yes.

It was something seen when vape pens appeared. The amount of nicotine within was magnitudes higher than that seen in cigarettes.

It resulted in increases in BP, heart rate, MIs, etc.

Just my theory. I could def be wrong. But people have been smoking weed for generations and we never really heard of this. Now that it’s legal and much higher potency we are seeing this ? Not a coincidence to me but again I could be wrong.

I guess that makes sense on a much bigger level.

Sure, but is it the nicotine or the other solvents used to make the liquid?

It just seems like the article bases its supposed increased dangers off of the smoke and not the compound itself.

Of course, I still have not had time to read the link, so maybe they do address it.

ETA: a lot of companies use propylene glycol as a solvent for their vapes, both nicotine and thc. This solvent is associated with increased heart rate and rhythm problems when ingested in large amounts. Is is possible that quality control is leading to excessive amounts of this solvent being used?

Sometimes I smoke in the morning, sometimes I don't do it all day. I quit drinking alcohol due to gout. Day drinking is socially acceptable but day smoking is "pathetic". Gotcha.

I'll do what I do and I don't bother anyone.

You can’t possibly think inhaling smoke and all those particles into your lungs is healthy ?

Nope. Not healthy.

Do you think these cell phones that you have glued to your body 24 hrs a day are healthy?

Folks, it's smoke. With cigs you burn a tobacco plant, with weed you burn the cannabis plant. It is all smoke going into your lungs. It's the smoke particles that cause the cardiovascular issues (fine particulate matter).

That said, people who smoke weed probably don't inhale as much smoke as a guy who smokes cigs. Especially with modern weed, you take one or two big hits and you're done.

As for edibles, I would imagine the risk is with the THC itself. It can increase pulse and blood pressure. Probably not a big deal for a person who is of healthy weight, but might be a problem for an out of shape baw.

Nicotine.

Nicotine’s side effects are well known.

It could be the THC itself or the smoke.

As with nicotine, THC does have an impact on your BP. The info isn’t fully known, but some studies show THC can increase BP, while CBD may decrease it.

THC may be the issue. The studies are all over the map though.

The majority of the ones I have seen seem to point towards increasing BP, but you can find ones on occasion that reference lowering it.

That is just in reference to THC.

This isn’t true at all. THC levels back in the day (70s) was closer to 2-5%. Now these days you can buy from a dispensary that is between 15 - 30% by dry weight depending on what you buy.

And thats where you find most of the higher potency weed, in the vape cartridges. The vapes are terrible for you period. In my dispensary I haven’t seen any flower over 35%.

Definitely could be a factor, but increased BP and HR are all known side effects of nicotine to begin with.

I don't doubt that THC increases heart inflammation, but I really do not like self report studies, especially when it comes to medical diagnosis.

Not trying to argue one way or another. These were just questions that came to mind after seeing some of the quoted text.

A lot of things in life that are fun are also bad for you in some way, so the results of the study are not surprising.

With studies being all over the place on the issue like you mentioned, I was just trying to gain some clarity.
