Well this is a screwed up story. Undercover game wardens asked a guy to help them recover a wounded deer and then charged him with multiple crimes related to using a drone in deer recovery.

The two game wardens were involved in the sting operation against Wingenroth, which took place at the Welsh Mountain Nature Preserve in Lancaster County on Dec. 6. Wingenroth responded to the warden’s request for help recovering a deer and flew the area with his drone; when he shined one of the drone’s lights on a live whitetail, the second officer arrived to seize Wingenroth’s drone and issue the four citations against him.

Yeah it’s way more ethical to let a wounded deer get chewed up by coyotes than it is to shine a light on a live one
I hope he wins in court.

Can someone tell me why we can’t recover deer however we can? Seems a godsend.

Not related but related.... One time Paul Harvey was telling a story about how midwestern farmers were approached by the state (CRS on which one) biologists about a rare bird and to report any sightings to a hotline. Well they did, and then the state biologists came in and exercised some rule and created 50 acre zones around the spot after they verified the rare birds were indeed there. No farming could occur within these zones. Well the next year the state biologists were perplexed as to why after a good first year there were no rare bird sightings the following year. No one went on record but the message that the farmers were instead shooting the birds made its way back to the state biologists. Good-day....

Don't they have better shite to do? What a waste of resources and tax dollars. I'm sure they are patting themselves on their backs too.

Similar happed in CA with the spotted owl. They asked Forrester's to report nest. Once they did they shut down logging. Loggers got the picture and stopped reporting.

I’m not a lawyer and I might be totally off base here, but could this be entrapment?
Posted on 2/28/24 at 1:32 am to TC Kidd
Definitely entrapment he needs to get good lawyer bear their arse then sue them. You can’t do shite like this

Wonder about some of the “bear found dead” stuff isn’t simply the same thing going on here between those living with the bears vs the state.
Me? All I ever saw was a trash bag mr. agency person.

Just watching game warden shows lets you know they don't. These dudes spend thousands just to write a $50 ticket.

Im against it until there’s a better way to prevent their use for actually hunting live game animals.

Made the mistake of reporting a dead bald eagle on the farm once that had obviously flown into a power line overnight. My God the feds did a full autopsy and found one lead pellet in the bird and tried to say we shot it. They went through our paperwork for the last several years trying to find one instance where we purchased lead instead of steel shot for our depredation permit for cormorants. Couldn’t find one, and forensics showed the pellet had been in the bird a long time. They determined it died from blunt trauma from….wait for it….flying into a power line.
Found another one years later same scenario. Dug a deep hole with the backhoe

I don’t understand why it’s illegal to use a drone to find a wounded/killed deer.
I feel awful when i shoot one and lose it. Seems better to use all resources to find it so the deer doesn’t suffer or get shredded by coyotes, or die and the carcass goes to waste.

When you realize the government is about power and job security and not about doing what’s right everything they do starts to make perfect sense.

Back in 16 I shot a 140 8 pointer on at our place and a ffew weeks later two GW's came by checking hunting camps. In shooting the bull I told them about the 8 pointer and showed them my license and the photo of the buck, which I used my 6.8. I could tell he was zooming in all the way and I asked him if he was trying to stretch that 5 round mag into a 10 rounder.

Not entrapment if you knowingly participated in breaking the law. PERIOD

Not a lawyer, but it they call you to specifically help them, how is it not?
He would not have been there if they had not called him. Why did they pick him?

Some of the fish and game laws in this country are dumb as chit, liberals must be involved with a lot of them, just like not being able to pickup a deer you hit with your truck, i swear its all about the money
