Finally was able to finish it last night.
Currently standing outside of FX's studio protesting the death of Mariko. Sent out letters to all the newspapers to let them know what FX has done.
Wow, that freaking sucked

Toronaga sure does have a lot of faith that his plan is going to work.
So far he’s sacrificed
- his son
- his best friend
- his most loyal subject
If he loses they all died in vain. Although I suppose if he lost they were all going to kill themselves anyway.
It’s nice that Mariko died saving her friends, I do wonder how they will all avoid being hacked to death in that shed though? Going in there was a pretty fricking awful idea.

Why do people like Mariko so much? I love the show but she wasn’t exactly an endearing character.
Hiromatsu was fantastic. That was a dude to root for

If you don't like her, there really aren't that many characters to like. Just had a lot of pity for her really. And obviously she was hot so that doesn't hurt. The book is a few down the line in my reading order but I'm curious to see how his character is in the book and if he's more likable because at this point Toranaga doesn't really have many redeeming qualities. Not really sure why I'm rooting for him since he pretty much doesn't care about those closest to him.

Yeh the only character I “like” was Hiromatsu.
Friar tuck isn’t bad considering
ETA: I like Fuji. She a real one

Toronaga didn't sacrifice his son.
1. It wasn't Toranaga's idea to assassinate his brother, that was Toranaga's son and Yabashige's nephews plan.
2. It almost worked but the son is kind of a dip shite. Certainly wasn't a planned death like the other two

Some people watch the show but doesn't understand the time period of this Japanese era. Honor and loyalty is a great deal back then. You die in honor and serve lord to your death. They sacrifice themselves for the Lord's cause or Duty must be performed if ask else it's betrayal and die honorably through seppuku.

That's the point. They went out on their own accord. If it didn't work, they were gonna get killed anyway. If it does work, they'll be remembered as heroes to the cause.
Death to them is just part of the process and if they can control how they go out, even better in their mind.

99% of males want to pork Sidney Sweeney and I’d wager over half do to Dakota Johnson but nobody went to see Madam Web.
She’s a capable actress who is in a dilemma of serving an honorable Lord in contradiction of her faith while being married to an abusive husband at the same time she is having to interpret for a foreigner that strangely attracts her.
It’s somewhat compelling.
AND she is highly porkable.

Meh, there is nothing happening in Toranaga’s camp he doesn’t know about. His son dying sure was convenient in buying him 49 extra days.
He knew the assassination attempt was happening. If his son succeeds then boom it worked and that’s good, if he fails and dies, 49 extra days, he knew….
Another question. They all make a big deal about proper etiquette, honor, hospitality, etc… Yet it seems the work around of this is just to send assassins in the night, it literally happens 4 times in the show.
Why do these people not have better night time security when they are staying in a hostile place? Literally one guard gets killed and their entire camp is completely overrun? And this happens multiple times, seems like an irresponsibly low amount of security

ole boy knifed the night time security.
I really don’t understand why Ishido would send assassins.
His options were:
A. Keep here there/have her commit suicide and make it clear everyone was his prisoner.
B. Let her go and lose his hostages.
Telling everyone you’re letting her go and then having her killed in the night doesn’t accomplish anything different than 1. it probably looks worse.

The sons death was one of the weirdly funnier deaths I’ve seen on a tv show in a long time

Killed or kidnapped? Also, don't forget Yabushige let the ninjas in. Maybe it was a delay tactic.

Yea it was the dumb way to go about it. Sending assassins looks even worse than letting her kill herself or letting her go.

That’s what I’m saying. One dead security guard and your whole place is overrun with assassins? That’s weak security.

it just doesn’t make sense and it was clearly Ishido. it would have been an insanely machiavellian move by Toronaga

Why did she all of the sudden have feelings for Anjin again?
I dont think her feelings ever stopped.
She had to conceal it because of Buntaro coming back. JMO
And she knew she would most likely die the next day.
