As the title reads - I'm looking for recommendations for best way to start mass-elimination of squirrels around my house. I live in a neighborhood so reasonable discretion is key.

I've seen recommendations for PCP air rifles, but I'm looking for alternatives. Downsides of the PCP air rifles seem to be the refilling process. Pumps apparently suck. Refilling from a high-pressure SCBA-type bottle isn't cheap. Buying a compressor is stupid for this purpose. Am I missing a relatively easy refill option?

Are there other alternatives that I should be thinking about for my purposes?

Just buy a regular pellet gun. Or, buy a .22 suppressor.

.22 with subs and a silencer is quieter than a pellet gun.

Trap them. Mix peanut butter with sunflower seeds.

Then pop them. That way you're not inadvertently shooting towards homes or people.

I've eradicated the 10 acres or so that I have mostly cleared for my homesite of all squirrels. Those bastards caused me over $5k in vehicle damage a few years ago and I got pissed off and did everything. Traps, my wife running around with a 22 praying and spraying, got two outside cats and everything. frick those bastards. And yes, traps will catch them.

If you really want to get after them, use the bait. I bought a bucket for about $50 a few years ago. And I didn't see a squirrel in my neighborhood for over a year. The bait blocks have a hole in the middle, so I just ran wire through them and hung them in trees so they stayed away from pets. The squirrels vanished with the quickness. And I still have a lot of the bait left over.

ETA: Just looked up what I bought. Farnam Just One Bite. It has good reviews on Amazon

Bird feeder and a Pellet Gun work wonders. Open your kitchen window while making a roux.

Catch them in a live trap. Throw live trap in an ice chest filled with water.

Zero noise.

Start feeding neighborhood cats in your front yard. Those squirrels will disappear. Or bait and shoot. Hollow point 22 pellets will knock them out and you don't have to worry about a 22 round going through a neighbors window.

Got some of those rat bait chunks with the hole in them. Nailed them to trres and fences so dogs couldn't get them. Killed the piss out of them. Bastards were eating my tomatoes

If you are in or near Lafayette I will trap them live and humanely and release them in the woods by my home. Yo I pay for bait and call me when one is in two and out a cover over it so they stay calm.

PCP are easy to refill. I go several weeks without refilling.

I started a Lead Dome project at my house in 2020. Planned community on west side of Houston.

It took me several months to see a dent in the population. I stopped counting around 180. The surrounding population kept filling in the gap. Be in it for the long haul to see lasting results.

You might as well have some fun…….
Get a good pcp…… umarex gauntlet is a good one. Around $230. A DonnyFL Tatsu silencer is about $125. Vevor sells a pcp air compressor for around $200. I suggest a .25 caliber.
Set out some peanuts and a back stop.

My squirrels got smart. They stay just out of range. I have a live trap that I'll set occasionally and transfer the squirrels to my buddy's yard, when he's not home.

I’m from Mamou. Just text me the address and after one weekend your posterity will only know of squirrels as a legendary creature from days gone by that their great great grand pappy used to tell stories about
