Texas already passed this law, goes into effect next year.

Good. Yet another law/regulation/fee that only honest taxpaying American citizens are expected to honor. Do you think any of Joe Biden's new 14 million guests are getting inspection stickers on their cars?

I peeled my expired one off in 2019. Had two cops ask about it and told them I just got a new windshield

In br 5 parish you will still need emissions check

Money grab for the pretty much useless state police

I buy new cars before the inspection sticker expires, so this doesn’t matter to me.

You scofflaws have pushed us to a state of emergency!!!!!

Once this executive order puts more cops on the streets they can start writing tickets for no blinkers or brakes to make up the difference.

Inspection/Brake tags are dumb anyhow.
If you get one today and 3 months down the road, your windshield is smashed, your lights don't work or your horn won't blow, you can still legally drive your junker without retribution.
Get rid of the things.

If my vehicle needs to be “roadworthy” Louisiana should make sure their roads are “vehicle worthy”.

Unpopular opinion ,but the standards of a vehicle inspection need to higher in LA not lower or done away with. Too many people on the road in complete shitboxes that they do not maintain alot of them without insurance in most cases. If you have a vehicle and do not keep it in safe driving condition than you should not be on the road. Now downvote away.

After reading this thread I’m scraping mine when they expire

Revenue from state inspection stickers typically goes to Louisiana State Police. But with a new tax on vaping products, LSP is now in favor of the removal of inspection stickers.

The people that don't care already don't care. They are going to drive anyway. If you upped the standards it would be declared "war against the poor" People who are going to keep their cars up either way are the ones that are being inconvenienced.

Correct. The people rolling in screwed up shitboxes already don't care and are already getting away with it.
Inspections stickers are a path to revenue for podunk police departments via nuisance tickets.
When they start pulling over those fricked up Mexican shitbox caravans on the interstate then I'll be open to them concerning themselves with my blinkers and brake lights and emissions equipment.

Any road in the state will show that the money is not being utilized where it's been intended

Yup. The LSP is worthless. Speed traps, sit on side of road for stickers and seatbelts, while the obvious mostly likely uninsured carry on down the road.
Posted on 2/21/24 at 12:30 pm to Dixie2023
LSP doesn't bother me but all the podunk barney fife speed traps and inspection sticker checkpoints where the work traffic is passing pisses me off. Just say all the working people owe an extra $10 this month so we can make the pension payroll and be done with it.
If it was about safety, they'd pull over the obviously fricked up buckets with fake stickers and no insurance and do something about them. It isn't. It's about generating revenue via the people who have the means to pay the tickets.
