IVF is about to be screwed

Alabama Supreme Court states embryos are people. When you do IVF, you make extra embryos as you don’t know how many it will take to be successful. In Alabama, I don’t know how you do that as you are essentially required to keep them frozen forever now, paying to do so, or implant them. This will really make IVF be incredibly difficult for most to do.

IVF is about to be screwed for middle class people in Alabama

It was in the context of a wrongful death civil suit where someone at the medical facility dropped the embryos, destroying them. Haven’t read the opinion yet, but it sounds crazy tbh.

This has already happened in Louisiana of all places. LA is one of the only states (now apparently including AL) that the Embryos have rights and can be part of custody disputes in divorces.
Your fear that this legislation will require you to pay to keep embryos indefinitely is false. You can just send them to a state that doesn't give embryos the same rights to be disposed of.
And, whether you agree with the religion, politics, or policy, the embryos have a finite life in storage anyway and their viability goes down with time.

What's next? A law jailing men for jacking off because you are killing potential embryos?
Willful, joyous stupidity is now celebrated for reasons passing understanding.

It really depends on when you believe the creation of a human life takes place.
Many believe that point in time is conception, specifically, the moment an egg is fertilized by a sperm cell.
And, whether right or wrong, it can be an ethical quandary for many who consider undergoing IVF procedures.

Yeah, minimize life and bend your morals for the sake of pragmatism, Evangelicals!
It’s always better to move along with that Overton window than risk losing elections. The ends always justify the means.

The Overton window will be hovering over Sodom and Gomorrah if we lose this next election.

Idiotic laws have consequences such as this
Posted on 2/19/24 at 9:15 pm to SirWinston
It likely will, but we're already headed in that direction. The only thing that will stop it now is the Gospel changing hearts and minds. All the "Conservatives" will do is potentially slow it down for a few years.
Our nation is falling off a cliff. The Republicans get in office and they may or may not pull the parachute to slow down the descent for a few years, but when the Democrats get in office, they cut the strings and proceed with the free fall. Republicans are not going to save us from the decline.

Guess we’ll just forsake our morals and start voting Democrat then.

Saw thus earlier. So now, IVF labs and services will close down, to avoid major risk.
Sorry all you Alabamians who need the help of IVF to have kids.
Clown world.

Yeah I believe democrats screamed about this kind of thing previously.

So you're ok with a lab getting charged w homicide because someone dropped a tray of fertilized eggs?
Clown world.

I don't think you get full personhood rights at conception so no I personally don't think that's a logical law at all.
I do think the pro abortion crowd warned about this kind of thing though and it fell on deaf ears for the most part.
If you believe life begins at conception though wouldn't that make sense, each one of those is a person with a soul, don't they deserve their day in court and protections from medical malpractice against them? How is that different than accidently killing a patient with a mistake during surgery?
This is actually real time watching us fall down the slippery slope we were worried about with this whole when life begins can of worms.

They weren’t charged with homicide in this case. Not surprising you are misrepresenting the facts.
But why do you give a shite if less people are born??? Climate change and whatnot.

Should it be possible to recover for wrongful death if a pregnant women gets in a car accident and the unborn child dies? Should someone who kills a pregnant woman be charged with two homicides?

Yeah, it's the pro-lifers' fault. So awful that they made the GOP nominate Walker, Masters, Dr. Oz. Etc. Lol.
