not really
louisiana does home cooking very well, and new orleans way outslugs similarly sized cities. plenty other places do it well and in much greater quantities and varieties.

LA is somewhat unique in America because you have your own cuisine. Much like Italian, Mexican, Greek, etc., LA has its own cuisine. Is it true Italy is likely to have the best Italian food in the world? Yes. Greek in Greece? Yep. Cajun in LA? Yep.
You're best at your cuisine. The argument then becomes is cajun cuisine the best in the world. HEEEELLLLLL no. Not even close, imo. But you're right, it is something that can be debated.
Framing it even further from reality, asking if LA has the best general food options in the world, regardless of cuisine, is an absolutely ridiculous thing to even ask.

New Orleans has a world class and varied food scene. People take vacations to New Orleans for food. The food of Acadiana is unique. North Louisiana is no different than the rest of the South. Baton Rouge isn't any better than Mobile.
Outside LA, most places do something well. DC, NYC, SF, Chicago are all as good as NOLA. Internationally, I find the quality of food improves greatly as you get away from other tourists.

But it’s not. Maybe per capita it has variety, but it’s not varied.
The Mexican sucks. BBQ is bad. Asian food is terrible outside of a few Vietnamese places, Etc. NOLA has a few French restaurants and “Italian” but it’s really not varied at all.
It’s unique. It’s not varied. Just like Tex Mex is unique

In a lot of respects? Yes.
Can you find a good, non-Louisiana meal elsewhere? Yes, but it takes some work.

I don't eat Louisiana food very far from the Louisiana coast. I don't eat Louisiana food in North Louisiana. My only rule.
This. Every time I’ve tried “Louisiana food” outside of south Louisiana, it’s been a disappointment. If I’m not in Louisiana, I’ll go for whatever that area is known for

Every small town in Italy and France has excellent mom/pop restaurants that are affordable.
See what I did there? Seriously, go to any small village in Italy. There’s one restaurant and it had best be damned good or the locals won’t support it.
