What makes LA notable is not so much the quality of the food itself but the food culture surrounding it: men as well as women taking interest & pride in cooking, celebrating hole in the wall mom & pop joints, remembering old restaurants, etc...
This sort of thing is rare in Protestant, Anglo-Saxon cultures ("Eat to live, don't live to eat"). It is no accident it is French Catholic South LA that produced this culture.

Louisiana has the best Texas Roadhouses in the country

No…as long as you don’t “force it.”
Anywhere along the gulf coast, there is fresh seafood and a pretty heavy Cajun influence, so you are good there. However, if you go to Nebraska and order “Cajun” food, you are destined to be disappointed. The Midwest is beef country, so you order whatever beef dish is common there. Same goes for Colorado or west Texas…Mexican food is great out there, so you order that. Just takes some common sense to find something good to eat while traveling.

No.
Yeah, there's region's that a lot of people aren't fans of (looking at you Midwest), but the world is packed full of amazing local food.

Depends on where you are and what is being served. But I think when people say the food is better in Louisiana, that applies more to the people in the area. If you go to someone's house for dinner in Idaho, there is a good chance it will not be as good as if you go to someone's house in Louisiana (assuming both are average cooks for their area)

My long late grandmother’s kitchen on that 10 acre Tennessee truck patch was pretty damned awesome.

I've lived in Massachusetts and North Carolina for several years apiece, so I can only speak to those two locations.
Both have some very good places to eat. Both have places that I still crave to this day, but neither place had the volume per capital that Louisiana has. Louisiana also has so much variety in food that many other places (excluding major cities like Boston or Durham) simply don't have.
Although Cheerwine is the best soda of all time and Cook-Out should be considered a national treasure. So North Carolina wins there.

I think it's overstated how much of a culinary stronghold it is.
The food is just a thing Louisianans cling to justify not moving out. It’s really not that important bc you can find good food anywhere.

For you guys that travel a lot or have lived in numerous places, what’s your opinion on food outside of Louisiana?
Lousiana has a lot of faults. Food is not one of them.
I thank god every day for blessing me with the culinary talent of my ancestors.
I cooked a jambalaya with deer backstrap tonight and it was delightful.

I've eaten a lot of groceries in a lot of countries. I always had Tony C's with me, and tried to carry Tabasco. If you run out of Tabasco, almost every bar on the planet has a bottle.
It may take a minute, but you will find something you like everywhere. I also used to carry a small electric skillet. Everywhere has grocery stores.

The majority of the world is correct…about that anyway.

This prob won’t be a popular opinion on here but Boston has got some great food.
Italy, Portugal, and Mexico are also great food destinations.
But Louisiana is still hands down the best.

You're not wrong. The northeast has some great seafood.
Agree with you on Italy as well.
Like you said though, LA food beats the brakes off of both.

I was at a sidewalk cafe in Budapest, Hungary and my waiter asked in very broken English where I was from. I told him Louisiana of the southern US. A couple of minutes later, he set a bottle of Tabasco on the table and smiled. I was very proud!

Arkansas barbecue kicks Louisiana’s barbecues butt.
I’m sure a lot of other places barbecue does as well.

Food always tastes better when it’s served to me by an obese woman who calls me “Baby.”

It’s hard to impress folks from Louisiana with food whenever we travel. We usually end up wishing they knew what they were doing in the kitchen whenever we go places outside of Louisiana. At least that’s been my experience.

Louisiana has the best cuisine. Mississippi has the best catfish. Texas has the best BBQ. Chicago has the best pizza. California has the best produce. The gulf coast has the best seafood.

Preferably a black one. The soul food trinity: butter, sugar and salt. Then slow and low.

Louisiana food (restaurants) suck for variety.
Go to Los Angeles, New York, Houston, even Atlanta, and you will be blown away by all the options and realize how poor the restaurant scene is in Louisiana
