Victory Wembanyama has made more 3s than Brandon Ingram this season

Ingram 70/196 35.7%
Wembanyama 75/235 31.9%
I know a lot of y'all are tired of people being negative because this team is a B- instead of an A+ But after waiting 4 years to finally see these guys play together, the ceiling sure as hell looks a lot lower than we all thought.

A lot of people are going to come in here and blame coaching, but Willie has mentioned in his press conferences multiple times that they need BI to take more threes, just like he's mentioned Zion needing to be more aggressive.
And they just... won't do it.
Both guys have the talent, but they clearly don't have the mentality to take over games night in and night out.
It's the biggest thing holding this team back. When we drafted Zion and traded AD for the haul that we got, the plan was not for a Batman & Robin scenario with Zion and BI, it was supposed to be Batman 1 & Batman 2. Instead we got two Robins who will masquerade as a Batman every now and then, but not enough to be the real thing.

The Spurs must be leading the Western Conference. Great stat that correlates three points shooting with victories.
Has Vic made and attempted more threes than Z? Just asking!

If you can't see that I'm pointing out a rookie center has taken and made more 3s than our All Star caliber 3 level wing scorer who has been told repeatedly to take more 3s, I don't know what to tell you.

So how many more is that than Zion?

Ingram was always going to be the one that needed to sacrifice and change his game because he already has the off ball skills to do so and Zion doesn't. If you put Zion in the corner, you're wasting him. If you stick BI in the corner, you should get more C&S 3s.
We don't need Zion to take 3s, we need Zion to be healthy and in shape so he can be Point Zion all season.

We would be better off if BI shot more 3s.
Zion overall would be less efficient if he shot more 3s.
BI overall would be more efficient if he shot more 3s.

But Wemby has more than SGA, Derozan, Siakam, Butler, Giannis, and Jokic. What does that say? Players have different games. Wemby has a green light on a bad team. I agree BI should shoot more 3s, but the conclusion that is being drawn seems a bit flawed.

I agree Ingram should shoot more but Wemby is on an awful team with hardly any other options around him…has a lot to do with it.

How so?

Seems like you got it to me.

Wemby is developing that shot right now. Imagine how good it'll get when he turns 23. The confidence is there and I trust it'll develop over time as he's a good FT shooter. If Ingram came into the league with that type of confidence in his deep ball, his career trajectory would probably have been different.

He shot 39% and 38% on 6.2 and 6.1 attempts from 3 in his 1st 2 seasons with the Pels.
Then out of nowhere, he just stopped shooting them at that rate, for reasons I don't think anyone knows.

But he's not, and without a true point guard, Ingram has to play that role, which leads to less catch-and-shoot opportunities. Jose seems like the only other guy on the team that regularly probes with the ball.

What does it say about Popovich that he is letting him shoot that many 3s. I think I would want my giant under the rim rebounding misses and making easy follow up layups.

It says his development is far more important than winning games right now especially with a bunch of miscasts.

Actually, all we really need is 2020/22 Ingram....
62 33.9 8.2-17.7 46.3 2.4-6.2 39.1 5.0-5.9 85.1 0.8 5.3 6.1 4.2 0.6 1.0 2.9 3.0 23.8
61 34.3 8.4-18.0 46.6 2.3-6.1 38.1 4.6-5.2 87.8 0.6 4.3 4.9 4.9 0.6 0.7 2.0 2.5 23.8
Six 3-point attempts a game at 38 or 39% clip? Five or six fts a game at 85%+ with 5 boards and 5 or 6 assists? Now that guy might rate a max contract...

It's simple what changed from previous seasons. The Pels don't have a point guard despite drafting Kira and Dyson then acquiring CJ.
BI's role has changed with him being the point. Other than Jose no one else can run an offense. Jose is too limited to play extended minutes to make a difference.
