Virtual attendees noted that in his remarks, Martin seemed to dwell on praising white male writers of old, including some with a history of racism, rather than engaging with the nominees and their work. The Hugo Awards were first held in 1953, but it wasn't until 2016 that a Black person, acclaimed author N.K. Jemisin, won the prize for best novel. She also took home the prize in 2017 and 2018, making her the only writer ever to pull off a best novel hat trick. According to former Hugo nominee Natalie Luhrs, Martin mentioned this feat, but quickly pivoted to praising a white male author who also won the award three times in a nine-year span.
Not going to read through 6 pages of arguing back and forth but would like to add to your post on page 1 that there hasn’t been a white male Hugo award winner for best novel since the Obama administration. All but 1 are female. So yeah I’d agree that at least they are woke

I’m not as big of a stickler on how he looks, as long as he has the traditional Targ hair, etc. I just want him to act as well as Matt Smith as Daemon
There’s enough of a blank canvas for Aegon because he’s just this mythological figure in Westeros history. He’s more known for just being THE conqueror and for having the baddest arse dragon in Westeros history

Interesting, but bad choices were a hallmark of the last seasons with these two hacks. Also:
quote:It also makes Varys' in-show betrayal and execution kind of bland and a bit nonsensical. I think he's supposed to be caught plotting for Aegon Blackfyre and killed for that reason. I can't remember why he was executed on the show, but it was basically just some conjured up bullshite.
2. Aegon VI never appeared on the show but is a major focus of the build to Winds Of Winter.

So you spend an entire threads arguing a show you haven’t seen adapting a book you haven’t read is filled with Hollywood wokism.
First time in a thread with Kaiju huh? That’s pretty much the only thing he knows how to do.

I’m not super familiar with Aegon, but doesn’t he pretty much steam roll all of Westeros once he gets there. I’m excited for the series but I’m not sure how much story there is but I’m sure I’m missing stuff. I honestly rather see Robert’s Rebellion become like a mini series or something

It’s almost as if you didn’t read any of my posts. Oh, because you probably didn’t . I wasn’t arguing anything about the next spinoff, I was commenting on the lack of progress Martin has made on finishing his book series.

And you argue that Hollywood wokism is the reason that George rr Martin hasn’t finished the series.
I did not. Again, reread my comments.

This was literally a thread only about a new show being in the works and you somehow circled back to wokeness
Wrong.

Yeah unless they focus on the drama between Aegon and his sisters…then make Dorne and his failure there a big part, idk how it’s gonna go. It’s gotta be more like a mini series than on going like House of the Dragon.
He kind of dominates for the most part outside of Dorne. I mean what the frick are they gonna do against a dragon like Baleron?

This is essentially what I imagine in my head every time he posts

Now I do want to see Balerion, he gets so hyped up by the book readers

First of all you replied to this same post twice.
Second the spin-offs are relevant because they disprove your assertion.
He hasn’t changed his content.
His lack of progress on the winds of winter is writers block and cowardice.
Remember per him Samwell Tarly is admittedly George RR Martin. He wishes he were Tyrion but admits he’s sam.
Who is a self admitted craven
George has created something he doesn’t know how to bring together AND he’s scared of rejection and ridicule if he were to finish it.
He saw how the show runners were treated
They were ridiculed not because of wokeness but because people had their own idea of how it should end and nothing could measure up.

Don't care. Seems I need restating things to some here because all they do is keep repeating the same thing over and over. It's fricking tedious.

Actually, they don't. Because he's not finished his original series.

There seems to be disagreement on that point, but whatever, I don't care.
He needs to nut up and finish his series and accept whatever comes.
