Nate Yeskie will be an upgrade over Wes Johnson

If you ask me, Johnson rode the coattails of Skenes and really didn’t impact our rotation in a positive way as much as he should have. Our staff last year still had a major problem with walks. I am ecstatic for a Hurd, Holman, Jump rotation. IMO we will be better off this year with 3 solid starters unlike last year with one ace, one reliable arm (Floyd), and a question mark on Sundays.
LFG TIGAHS!!

lol, Floyd was more than "reliable." He was undefeated and a first round draft pick

Not really until later in the year. One trick fastball pony. All 3 weekend starters can land 3 pitches for strikes this year

I saw huge improvement from a lot of our pitchers. Ty Floyd, Herring, and Ack, along with Thatcher Hurd finally rounding into form. Also, our coaches took a second team all-SEC pitcher and turned him into the number 1 draft choice.

I mean, relief pitching was shaky for most of the regular season, but they found their groove in the postseason.
We needed a alot of guys to step up in Omaha and they damn near all did.
Don't forget Skenes didn't pitch against Florida.

My biggest gripe with Wes. Seemed to focus more on the starters and then figure out the bullpen in late game situations. I don’t think that’ll be the case this year.

Why do people still think this?

Man I don’t know about that. Johnson had the best pitching staff in the major leagues to the All-Star break before he left Minnesota. And everyone in that clubhouse bragged about how great of a coach he was. The problem with the pitching staff, in particular relief pitching, was the same problem they had the season before. If you follow Riley Cooper, he got better as a year went on. he did the same exact thing the year before.

I mean the majority of our pitchers improved throughout the year and were the best versions of themselves at the end in the postseason. That’s exactly what you want.

We won the NC and saying our pitching coach was shite. What the freak you smoking?

Because he read it in a magazine somewhere.

Nate is a great coach. Wes is on another level. We are lucky to have Nate and hopefully he stays in that position for the long term . It was a miracle that Wes was here last year. He will be at Arkansas when Van Horn retires.

Some of yall don’t understand how tough it is to overcome injuries. We had lots of them in our pitching staff last season.

They are both great coaches. Yeskie will be a head coach next year. Jay Johnson is why LSU will be a contender every season he is here. We will always have great pitching coaches and it will be high turnover because they will win and move on. But the talent will remain constant.

Only people who don’t watch the games say this. He was throwing breaking balls under Kelly and was very effective when he threw them for strikes.

This is such a bad take.

It’s not as bad of a take as you think.
Many people were saying Wes basically gave up a lot of his duties and Jay took over towards the end of the season. Do you not remember Jay making all of the mound visits at the end of the year? That’s when Hurd really turned the corner.
