Do you identify as a Texan after living in Tx for a while or are you simply a Louisianan that resides in Tx?

You can identify as whatever you want these days. Doesn't make it true.

You need to be born in Texas to be a native Texan. And you have to assimilate if you are an outsider to even be considered a Texan at all.

My house is on the market in Baton Rouge and all my shite is there but I’ve been living in Texas since December 4th in an Air BNB. I had to move into a new air BNB last night but I’ve got this one for a couple of months.

I had a great time my 12 years in Baton Rouge and yes I consider myself a Texan but I was born here and lived here for 20 years. Most Texans will tell you that you need to be born here to consider yourself a Texan.

I made a post on Texas Gun talk about officially being a Texan after I moved and they

Louisiana may have its shortcomings, but you always claim your birthplace with pride.

Louisiana people living anywhere should take more pride in their home state. Texans do that everywhere they go in almost every setting. Even the ones that only lived there for a few minutes.

While annoying, it's also kind of admirable.

Texas should be able to handle the migrants since they’ve been dealing with migrants from Louisiana that had to move there just to find a job for so long

I wasn't born in Texas but I git here as soon as I could.

My home will always be Louisiana though, wouldn't mind moving back to a lake once I retire.

I'll always admit that I'm a Louisiana boy but I'll never move back.

If you didn't take a Texas History class in middle school...you're not a Texan.

My kids are Texans. I am not and never will be, although I do love Texas and have lived here for 17 years. I'm a Louisianan.

I've lived here for 32 years, longer than I lived in Louisiana, and will never consider myself a Texan.

Our circle of friends in Texas are all from Louisiana. I’d say we’re more expats than Texans.

I’m not in Texas but I haven’t lived in Louisiana for 10+ years. I still consider myself a Louisianan living elsewhere.

I've lived in Texas a couple of times, but they knew I was from Louisiana.
Wonder what gave it away?

What's a "Texan" these days? How is it different than, say, an "Ohioan"?

If you’re born in Louisiana you’re a Louisianan.

No matter where you move to. However if you are born anywhere else and you move to and live in Texas then you are a Texan

A Louisianian who resides in Texas but Texas is home.

All 3 children are Louisiana born but likely identity as Texan with the exception of our son - he has traveled the world and has a fondness for the culture and his legacy
