Biggest 3-day rainfall event in Santa Barbara history came in 1943 when 9.02 inches accumulated. That could possibly be rivaled next week. This area already received a ton of rain Thursday morning, so flooding and landslides will be likely. #CAwx

Learn to swim, learn to swim
'Cause I'm praying for rain
I'm praying for tidal waves
I wanna see the ground give way
I wanna watch it all go down
Mom, please flush it all away
I wanna see it go right in and down
I wanna watch it go right in
Watch you flush it all away
'Cause I'm praying for rain
I'm praying for tidal waves
I wanna see the ground give way
I wanna watch it all go down
Mom, please flush it all away
I wanna see it go right in and down
I wanna watch it go right in
Watch you flush it all away

They're gonna have mudslides that are going to take out a lot of people, it's going to be ugly. I agree with your sentiment but this is going to be very bad for a lot of people.
I could see this easily happening. It’s a lot more hilly out there than most people know unless you’ve been there. That arid climate soil does not absorb a lot of rain well.

I’m sure they’ll drain those reservoirs down so they can continue to receive the drought assistance from the feds.

Yeah, Hillary was hyped up and didn’t really deliver so I hope people don’t brush this off. If it pans out a foot of rain could be really destructive.
You are 100% correct. Nothing like a huge boulder or home sliding down a hill and landing on your vehicle to make for a bad day. Or be in the house when it washes down one of those hills.

My son is stationed at Camp Pendleton. That little tropical storm they had ended up being a big nothing burger. He hasn't said anything about a rainstorm coming. It’s been weird weather in So Cal the last 12 months. Last time I was out there at the end of September it was rainy on and off all week which is unusual.

Sunday-Wednesday’s rain event will be driven by a deep plume of moisture known as an atmospheric river. This AR plume is looking like it’ll be quasi-stationary (not deviating much in its location for 48-72 hours) over Southern California.
