Here's the forecast for Mammoth Lakes, California (94" - 116" of snow). What do you think would happen if a major east coast city ever got this much snow in a 3 day period?

Santa Barbara and Ventura counties have evacuation orders up, and for good reason. There is high end potential here with a bad situation setting up for those valley areas.

Both the NAM and HRRR show heavy rains slamming into those south-facing mountains which is a worst case scenario.

Hatip to @VortixWx for this image:

You can see that process playing out on the radar loops above.

Weren’t these people whining about a drought a few years ago? Some people just can’t be satisfied.

Thats crazy. We just had 78" over 15 days and I thought that was overwhelming.

So very true. Many of them post on the OT and live in Louisiana.

Pot meet kettle.

I agree with your sentiment but this is going to be very bad for a lot of people.

I’ll refrain from posting my true feelings about people in California.

Fingers crossed for them.

The jets at LAX are taking off to the east. Can’t remember the last time I saw that.

8-10 feet of snow falling in the Sierra along with 100 mph wind gusts. Massive hurricane-force blizzard conditions at higher elevations

The “atmospheric river” is what hit SC about 7 years ago. Mass flooding, dams being breached, etc. it was crazy how that much precip could be funneled though a relatively small channel.
