My pets are never for sale. Don't care. Not for sale at any price.

Allergic to animal dander, so we have a bearded dragon. I always tell my wife that if she dies, I'm eating the lizard.

She's got my wife's dog. If my wife's dog were gone she'd be around my dad's dog a lot more. She currently functions as an emotional support dog for my wife's dog.

Have a friend that trains labs and had one that could get beers out of a fridge or coolers. Once they were at a field trial and a bunch of handlers were staying at a RV park. They gathered at one of the trainers camp who had a fire going and were just shooting the bull. One of the trainers said he needed a beer and he was out of his particular brand. So my buddy sends his dog back to his RV to get the trainer his beer. I don't know how far it was but guessing around 50 yards. The dog takes off and the guy wanting the beer says to the owner of the dog, if that dog comes back with a beer, I'll give you a blank check and you can fill it out for whatever amount you wish. A few minutes later here comes the dog with the beer. My friend kept his dog.

OK, so if you won't sell your pet then how much would you be willing to spend on medical bills?

Depends on the situation
Older dog, I’d keep her comfortable or out her down
Younger dog & issues would be fixed? We paid LSU 3K, went there to put her down, local vet couldn’t fix issue, LSU told us they could fix with 99.9% success rate on surgery, we chose the surgery

If you have the capacity to bond. I think much of the population doesnt.

People sometimes bond with an animal more than they can or ever have with people. Some dogs are the epitome of what people should strive to be. My lad weighs about 70 pounds and never gets mad at our rat dog of 10 pounds or our cat of 15 pounds...even when one or the other does some shite that would cause most folks to throw hands.

Societally we often think more of a dog than we do a family member. Most people will reluctantly euthanize a dog who is suffering but the vast majority of people are very put out by the thought of another person making that decision for themselves.

Mine can't get in the fridge but she will retrieve cold drinks from a cooler for me if she can reach the cooler. She LOVES to put fish in the cooler. She is far more excited about picking up live fish than dead and wounded birds. She gets lit the frick up when a fish is splashing boat side...she has nearly knocked me out of the boat several times in her exuberance to get in on the action.

Hardheaded
Don't listen
Narcissistic
Need to brush their teeth and bathe
Don't clean up their messes
Fight with each other
Needy as hell when it comes to their personal attention

Always glad to see me
Don't bitch and scream
Don't spend any money
NOT FOR SALE

I've had pets all my life. I can never remember a time where I didn't have a dog. I have one now and also a cat.

But they are not people. Sure I bond with them. But it's not the same bond as with humans, especially my family and friends.

If a pet died, I would certainly be sad and mourn. But it would be a short period of sadness and I would be over it rather quickly. If I were to lose a child, it would be devastating and I'm not sure how I would recover.

To equate the two things is completely ridiculous.
