I am glad someone here has learned to appreciate cats. They are awesome if you find one with some street smarts about them.

Buncha liars in here. My dog could be had for 50k.

So long as she's going to a good home, I'll get another dog.

Tend to agree with this... I love my dog, but if for whatever reason, someone shows up with $1MM cash in hand, she's gone. I'd get another.

I'm using the Million for the no amount crowd....

I'll pay you $20 to take him. He's a dick.

Ok. All you people who think anyone is going to come and offer you $500,000 or more for your dog are just not in touch with reality.

Because there's a reality where people randomly offer a fair amount of money to take your family pet?

Interesting hypothetical question.

If I KNOW the pet is going to a good loving home, with the means to care for it properly, then I would entertain the thought of selling it.but it would have to be a hefty amount….and the higher the amount, the easier the choice. Like 1 million "Bye, Flufficia”.

Here’s the thing, I worked for a vet for several years and we boarded a lot of animals. Almost all of them would have been fine going home with any friendly person…especially the gregarious breeds like Goldens and labs. "One person"animals, like chows, might not have been good candidates for rehoming…. but all in all, most of the cats and dogs did not seem to be as torn up as their owners imagined they were once the owners left. That is not to say that they weren’t joyous when the owners showed back up to claim them, but they did not seem to sit around pining in the meantime.

Cash in hand , not hypothetical , would probably change some of the NEVER’s to ….welll, ok. Be good to him! If someone , with good intentions of loving your pet, had a check made out to you for 1,000,000, ….you probably would take it…but no one can be sure of their action unless honestly confronted with the choice.

So many people state unequivocally what they would or would not do in many situations, but I think the situation has to actually present itself. Hell, I can go into a restaurant, look at the menu, intend to order a steak and the words "pork chops" comes out of my mouth…

Look at the check look at the dog look at the check. Look at the dog.. Life changing money. For a pet who more than likely will be just as happy with another good home. (The certainty of a good home matters. Not selling an animal for medical research or to be torn apart in some Pitt bull training arena))

I’ll get dv’d by those who think their pet would pine away and die without them. I know your pet loves you. But I have taken care of your pet for weeks at a time when you were on vacation, and he was just fine.

I'd maybe sell them for a couple million. Only stipulation is that the dogs have to live/stay at my house at all times and they can't come visit. They are welcome to pay for the food and stupid expensive vet visits though.

I honestly don't think I would take 1 million for either of mine.

I lost a mom 2 years ago and my 18 year old nephew 3 months ago. I've had too much loss in my life lately and I love my dogs, I would feel terrible if I sold my dogs. They bring me and Mrs. Iwy a ton of joy. We don't have kids. The time we spend with them makes me happy and being happy is more important to me than a million bucks.

Wouldn't blame someone at all that took the money though.

Everyone saying this is full sh*t. If someone waves $4,000,000 in front of you for your pet, you're selling. A billion dollars? You'll make sure he's in perfect health/grooming and beg him to take it.

" I would feel terrible if I sold my dogs"

That is the point I was making. For a lot of people, I think they would feel guilty, like the pet would be devastated. My POV is that the pet would be fine as long as new owners were kind, loving.

However, I can see choosing to keep the pet over cash-in-hand, especially if you don’t need the money. I’m not saying anyone HAS to sell their pet, or is an idiot if they don’t…But if knowing the pet will be mentally ok makes it doable, then your choice opens up,a little.

I wouldn't sell my dog.

She once saved both of my elderly parents from serious injury.

She's protected me, using force, twice.

She's protected me by keeping trouble away.

She's my loyal and steadfast dog.

$10 mil . But if somebody offered me that I’d be very suspicious, thinking my dog was worth like 100 mil or something because maybe her poop is special

For the one I love, it would be some crazy number. The other, the one my wife adopted, I’d sell him for $1.50.
