I wouldn’t underestimate how much a better scheme can improve the exact same players.

Mizzou went from like 108th ranked to mid 20's in Baker's first year. I think much of it will depend on who we get in the portal, but our freshmen like Toviano were baptized by fire and didn't blink. All of them played well. Give them another off-season under a much better coach and I expect great things. I don't think we'll have much of a drop off on offense and I expect Trey'dez Green to be a breakout player. Can't freaking wait for next season. Also excited to see how well Colin Hurley progresses.

The theory some of you are saying that if you raise our defense to around just average and we will have a contending team is missing one big issue.

Our offense isn't going to be close to last years. even if Nuss is 90% of last years passing, he is going to be 10% of last years QB rushing. Overall, we're taking probably a 20% decrease in offensive production right there.

But, I'm optimistic! We shall see!

I am confident in improvement overall. I know it was a bowl game but the way the defense finished gives me hope in that they were still conditioned enough as a unit to still go strong in the fourth quarter was a good sign. I see some needs are being filled and that should help a lot. Always hopeful.

the pass rush should mature and if the poor tackling is cleaned up, that alone will do wonders.

We will suck far less. Meteoric leap into mediocrity, which in all seriousness would be yuge.

If we can be decent, we’ll have a great shot at the playoff.

25 and beyond will be nasty.

Just need be in the top 50% and get some occasional turnovers. The offense will be flying high with Nuss flinging it

Defense will take a step forward. Offense will take a step back. Tho the offense will still be good.

My expectation is to be in the top 50 and hope they're in the top 30. Its what's needed to compete for the playoffs.
With this staff, I'm hopeful it will happen.
By the way, has anyone figured out what exactly was going wrong on defense in 2023? Too complicated schemes, inferior staff, coaches not working well together???
When your at the bottom there's only one way to go, up!
Go Tigers!!

Well, the good news is that it won’t take much to be an improvement.

Compared to last year, anything better than the median would look like the ‘85 Bears.

W a great DL coach a good DB coach and a good DC we should be improved by quite a bit. If some of the freshmen come in and are ready by mid season we could be good enough

We can jump a ton. We are in an era where everybody is rebuilding there team every year now. Having coaches that are household names will help in the portal.

No House, Steeples or Cooks with the same LB's and DB's being coached by Baker, Raymond and Jensen should be a major improvement.

Let Perkins do what he does best and have Weeks in the Middle playing every down.

With Davis and Peoples coaching the DL in a more "Aggressive" and less complex scheme, it will be like Night and Day......

Hard to say. Definitely should improve- how much is yet to be determined. The defense was in absolute shambles and that can’t be rebuilt overnight.
