re: Trump likely to have to post $83 million bond to appeal

The amount of media posts, even from right wing outlets, saying Trump was found “guilty” of defamation makes me cringe. Most average people cannot comprehend the difference between civil and criminal cases.

I hope he pulls it from the $250 million he raised to fight election fraud.
Didn't Guilfoyle get $60k for a 3 minute speech on January 6th?

Trump has so many real estate holdings that obtaining a surety bond, even for a judgment of this amount, will likely be fairly easy and relatively inexpensive.

Has nothing to do with this thread, just FYI.
Lol. Your ideological allies on this board are saying Trump was convicted of rape. Don't hide behind your legal semantics now when the purpose of this civil suit is precisely to convince the brainwashed TDS morons that Trump was convicted of a crime.

A far more interesting question, is what activity milestone will trigger Trumps lawsuit against Hoffman billionaire for funding the crazy lady law suit. Trump could file for one or two billion. File it in Florida.

The usual requirement is you have to post a bond in the amount of the underlying judgment being appealed.
Congrats? Shame on you for supporting lawfare.

Bonds of this type in New York state are usually 120% of the damages and they have to be in cash or unmortgaged property. It has to be given over before the appeal can start. The funny part is Trump is unable to shut his mouth. He will keep on with the libel and they will sue his arse again. The question is are there any lawyers left who will take his case without collecting all of their fees up front?
All he had to do is listen to the lawyers and shut up
