Do I just have to get over that my infant is going to put nasty stuff in her mouth?

I’ve been somewhat of a germaphobe my whole life. I have ann eight month old now, and she’s just started crawling.
I want her to be able to crawl wherever she wants and explore, but I now find myself mopping every other day and wiping her hands off every time I pick her up after she crawls. I know this isn’t sustainable lol
Have any other new parents gone through this?

She gets it from her mom.

Yeah, it only gets worse.

Kids life is fricked if you’re worried about this.

You need to get over it. Your kid is doing what babies don

Decent answer: Get over your phobia with an infant. They’re gross, they’re going to put everything in their mouth, they’re going to get sick, their immune system will get better, they will eventually grow out of it.
OT Answer: What’s going in her mouth now is child’s play compared to when she’s older.

yeah don’t do this it’s not that serious. they learn what’s gross on their own and need to build up their immunity. as long as it’s not a bathroom floor or anything they can choke on, let them explore

She’s building her immune system. Let her be.

No, because I’m not a pussy. Let the kid get dirty. Just don’t let her put anything dangerous in her mouth.

It probably won't last that long
But kids are gross and will be for a while in all sorts of ways
My toddler makes pretend tuna fish and poop pizzas and tries to force feed them to me

This is really not going to go in the direction of swiffers and hand sanitizer.

Oh man, it’s just begun for you.
11 month old here. You’re going to have to turn into a hawk. Baby proof your home, and carry baby wipes everywhere.
Wife is more concerned over germs than I am. He’s a boy, he’s going to do dirty stuff, but just watch they don’t put anything in their mouth they can swallow.

I don’t know. I heard all those warnings about children but my daughter is super cautious. She just turned three and we’ve never had any issues with gross stuff or anything like that.
She wasn’t ever a dirty eater, like you see those toddlers with spaghetti all over their face.
She just turned three years old, never wets the bed she’s completely potty trained for over a year, she doesn’t need a bib. She doesn’t need a sippy cup. She uses fork and spoon. She even knows how to use chopsticks (kid’s version-connected). She doesn’t have temper tantrums. she knows how to spell words by sounding them out.
I just think some kids are dumb so you’re gonna have a big problem on your hands

I once saw my kid drag his tongue across about 15' of the handrail of the walking sidewalk at the Atlanta airport. He didn't die.
Kids are gross.

Just keep your house clean and prepare for them to put everything in their mouth. Baby proof the house so it’s not dangerous.
This is how they build their immune system.

You have entered "The Horrible Thing" point of your life. In a short time your haggling skills will rival a Middle Eastern rug haggler. You will find things you must make more horrible to divert from their Horrible Thing. If you learn from them you will gain a life skill.

Just wait until she hits the dog food bowl

Unless you’re steaming the floors with only hot water, you’re doing more harm than good by letting her crawl around and lick chemicals you keep pouring on the ground when you mop every other day. Let the baby get the germs. She will be fine. Kids are gross so just prepare yourself now
