Kenneth Smith’s execution by nitrogen described as ‘most violent’ by witness: Updates

So fricking what? He stabbed a woman to death for money. Too bad he didn’t suffer longer.
frick that piece of shite.

Alabama authorities insist the execution went to plan, despite predicting the untested method would lead to unconsciousness within seconds and death in minutes.
But, witnesses said Smith appeared conscious for several minutes, shaking and writhing on the gurney.
“We didn’t see somebody go unconscious in 30 seconds,” said Rev Hood. “What we saw was minutes of someone struggling for their life.”

In 1988, Smith was convicted of murdering Elizabeth Dorlene Sennett in a murder-for-hire plot in Colbert County, Alabama.
Sennett was the wife of Church of Christ pastor Charles Sennett, who allegedly paid Smith and another man $1,000 to kill his spouse.
The pastor was allegedly deeply in debt and wanted to collect on insurance from her death, according to court documents.
So they killed a woman for $500 each.

Incorrect. He first beat her with a fireplace poker and then stabbed her.

Those people reporting that are probably the same type of liberal" reporter" that did some field work to go to a range and shoot an AR-15, and then report back that they cried with every grueling round that came out of the barrel of doom as it pulverized their shoulder and made noises that you can only find in hell itself.

Yeah man letting big government hide the details experimental death machines and use them on its own citizens is something to be proud of.

100% effective so far.
Maybe they should have offered $500 to any of his fellow inmates who would kill him. Seems reasonable, because they likely needed the money.

Other reports are saying he intentionally held his breath for as long as he could instead of inhaling the nitrogen and painlessly falling asleep. So see ya later bozo, I guess

So is this method going to be considered ‘inhumane’?? Like not feeding the prisoners and letting them starve to death (which is what should be done)

His religious adviser Reverend Jeff Hood, who witnessed the execution, told reporters what he saw was a man “struggling for their life” for a staggering 22 minutes.
He should not have struggled and embraced it. He has gone to see God now Reverend, why are you against that. Whether he stays with God is another story.
The afterlife is supposed to be amazing, why are so many "church people" against helping people get there

So some “reverend” who’s a death penalty opponent gave us an unbiased report of what happened… Oh, Ok….
So he appeared conscious? Is this subjective or fact…. Is this guy an expert on consciousness?

Good riddance.
Elizabeth Sennett was stabbed 10 times and beaten to death with a fireplace poker. I suspect she suffered also fighting for her life from this murderer.
I still don't understand whats wrong with the firing squad. Bullets are pretty cheap in comparison.

The death penalty should be administered in the same manner the criminal killed their victim(s)

Methinks there is some exaggeration by our journalists here along with the other suggestion of his holding his breath.
Next time, heavily sedate them, even put them unde anesthesia. Then blast the nitrogen

Since 2000 Louisiana has only executed 3 people. Most recent was in 2010. Fire up the nitrogen and let’s get rid of some frickers.

They only executed him in the most violent way because he’s black! They wouldn’t ever do this to a white man!
Wait…
Wait…

dont underestimate the stupidity of the common person. Appearance means nothing. Euthanasia by inhalation methods leads to unconsciousness extremely quickly. The body may have physiological response after consciousness is lost but they are not feeling or perceiving anything.
