I love to remind chiropractors that they are not real doctors.

If they have a PhD they are doctors. Just not medical doctors.

I have a PhD…

Ever read the "dissertations" of some of those social sciences or education majors? It won't take you long. I've seen some that were 25 pages of crap. One dude wrote about people in Austin who liked to go cruising in their cars in the 1990's.

My engineering MS thesis was 235 pages of math and graphics.

In the real world a Phd is higher than a doctorate. That's why they graduate last in the graduation ceremony.

The best is Ph Ed. Like Dr. Jill.

I don’t call anyone doctor unless they are qualified to give me a prostate digital exam and are rated at least an OT 8+ or higher.

PhD was around first. These medical "doctors" need to change their title.

We were at a bar one night in Dallas and the bottle service girls with the sparklers were dancing at a table with a sign that said “1/4 doctors”.

Turns out it was a table full of chiropractor students who were celebrating the end of a semester

PhD in chemistry, math, physics, engineering, Comp sci etc can call yourself Dr all you want.
The general public has no idea how hard grad school in those fields is.

I'm never calling the Jill Biden types "Dr". Just not fricking happening.

Also, as others have stated PhD precluded Medical Doctors. So, tbh physicians stole that title.

You can have a doctorate and not be a medical doctor

Doesn’t change the fact that they have the title of doctor

Doctor comes from Latin and means "teacher" ("medicus" is a medical physician).

Yes, some people are obnoxious about their title but that's what the word actually means (i.e. they have enough expertise in a particular field to teach it).
