LINK

ESPN has it top of their 'news'.

WTH could coaches/staff do to prevent this sort of thing, short of controlling student athletes' financials?

So sorry for you all.

Edit to say that I just saw that he placed 9,000 bets so I’m assuming he was betting for a lot of people.

Probably other football players. They all probably thought this was a way to keep their names out of it.

I know LSU says no other LSU players were involved, but unless Boutte tells them who he was placing bets for, they have no way of knowing.

They probably don't want to know.

It sucks but it is what it is.LSU has learned from it, the NCAA has learned from it, hopefully Kayshon has learned from it. What ever small slice of a career he has left is still there as long as he wasn't betting against himself or LSU. Alot has been learned about this in the last few years and rules are still being crafted today regarding it. I just hope that this becomes a cautionary tale at LSU in the future. It seems like the type of football I used to enjoy is long gone, an ancient relic of the past now. That sucks.

I think he was actually losing:
quote:

According to the warrant, during 2022 and 2023: Boutte deposited a total of $132,147.53 into the account Boutte won a total of $556,267.58, but used most of that money to make additional bets Boutte withdrew $50,282.36 from the account

This wording makes it seem like he "won" $556k but, if he deposited $132k and only withdrew $50k, he was losing as he was rolling over bets. There's no way he won 4x his deposit unless he was unbelievably good or had inside info

He didn't profit that much. He deposited roughly $130k and withdrew roughly $50k which means he lost about $80,000.

The reason it says he won a total of $556,267.58 is because that's the amount that fanduel paid out over the time he had in his account, not how much his take home profit was.

Yeah losing $80,000 over 2 years could be a very good reason why he had a bad attitude

I'd have a bad attitude if I lost $80,000 too

On top of that with the Fortenberry account:
Wagered $450,969.44
Won $385,597.71
Withdrew $35,235.80
Remaining balance $331.47

Later on:
$31,208.53 deposited into Fortenberry account
Won $170,675.87
Withdrew $15,046.56
Remaining balance $0.67

In total:
lost $81,865.17

Wait so he took his own Over on receiving yards and took an Anytime TD and he STILL dropped that TD and posted 2 for 20? So, then he wasn't point shaving, he was just that awful. Yikes.

Hold on. He was betting on himself, from the LSU football ops building, losing, AND had all his personal info registered to the account? Including his LSU EMAIL?! Bro
