They keep saying it can take at least 24 hours once the repairs are done and water can be restored (happened at 5:30am today). Guess they are preparing us to have school closures tomorrow as well so they can make sure they use all of those hurricane days

Tell me you live on the east bank of Jefferson Parish without telling me you live on the east bank of Jefferson Parish

Talking to a couple of the other parents at my kids school and we looked back and noticed that since the week of 10/23, the only full week of school (including no 1/2 days) was the week of 12/4. And in 2 weeks they’ll have a week off of school for Mardi Gras

This month we have had school cancelled for the following:
Well to be fair with the school district, if there is no water pressure the cafeteria can’t cook lunch and breakfast and the bathrooms can become a biohazard. Also, some air conditioning systems maybe impacted since they use water instead of coolants to heat and cool the school.

Maybe I'm dumb, but shouldn't this make school cancellations easier to deal with?
Certainly has for me with 3 kids who have been out a bunch this year.

Still next to zero water pressure in Metairie. I'm thinking about putting a bucket outside to catch rain water so I can flush the toilet.

Not a full week of school since before Christmas….not optimal for 2 parents that work from home. The good thing is childcare is taken care of, bad thing is my productivity is nil.
Imagine how hard it must be for two parents that don't work at home?

How is there no dedicated thread to the water situation? Figured enough posters live in JP

Those teachers are tired of your kids.

My sister stated last night that her kids have had only 8 days of school in January

I'm convinced Calcasieu Parish School Board has PTSD from Laura and Rita. That or they lazy.
They will cancel school at any weather opportunity.
Poor community scared to death of rain.

Doesn’t have to be water in the tank to flush. It can be any liquid so really explore the space.
I had my boys all piss in the tank last night so I could take a shite this morning. Just dumped a gallon of milk back in the tank for the Mrs.

We didn't use hurricane days, and it's use it or lose it ha

Apparently not because my kid just got two full emails of remote learning to ensure that this doesn’t count against a hurricane day. Admin saving this shite like Todd Bowles.

The only legitimate closure for East Jefferson schools in my opinion is this last one. They jumped the gun on the other 2 and burned days that they could have saved, but that’s what they do. Chicken Little syndrome, or good teacher’s union.

Still no water and fog tomorrow. Let’s go ahead and close school for Thursday too.

Honestly the rain today was pretty unimpressive. Stormed for a little this morning but after that mostly overcast and spotty on me. Definitely not worth a rain out.
