Going to be based out of Inglewood, CA and the character might even be LGBTQ.

“I feel like Christmas movies are amazing and I think the idea of taking something that has that long of a history and a tale behind it and putting an amazing piece of talent to tell that story,” Barris told the outlet.
The director – who’s best known for creating the ABC sitcom Black-ish and directing the Disney+ remake of White Men Can’t Jump (2023) – also revealed that he thinks the plot of It’s a Wonderful Life lends itself perfectly to POC perspective.

nevermind that it's been remade numerous times, or at least the inspiration for a lot of similar themed movies.
In particular, I like The Family Man w/ Nic Cage version

Seems like a stupid idea. Only thing I will say is that the WMCJ remake wasn't that bad. I enjoyed it fine enough. But I also deeply love the original, so that's why I gave that one a shot.
They just can't be surprised when this one comes out and flops its arse off though. Because that's what will happen.

This might be the actual worst film idea of all fricking time.

I can’t wait to boycott this

The "more inclusive" thing bugs me.
Are ideas exclusive to a particular race because the characters expressing them belong to it? Are the themes of "The Color Purple" only relevant and to be heeded by African-Americans? Do only Asians get anything from the philosophy of Taoism or Buddhism?
Call it what it is. A cheap money grab propped up with cheap controversy.

Calling it a money grab insinuates that it will actually make money though. This won't.

Right, nobody will care about this movie and Its a Wonderful Life will continue to be beloved.

"modern, more inclusive" ... I can hear it now, at the end of the movie Zuzu says "teacher says every time a bell rings a tranny has their pronouns used"

The Family Man is probably the best known remake, although it's more of a reimagining.
There was also a gender swapped TV movie version with Marlo Thomas that came out in 1977 called "It Happened One Christmas." It wasn't a bad movie and was very faithful to the original.
Mr. Potter, the antagonist in the original film, will no doubt be a white man who is oppressing the black Bailey family.

Hollywood must destroy everything good.

I honestly think redlining would be a plot device if they make it a period piece.

No one will watch this.
But they will receive plaudits and praise from media and critics about their stunning and brave presentation.

"All you white supremacists and colonizers can just stay away from my movie then", said one of the actors, probably.
"All of these bad reviews are from white supremacists and racists", said the director, probably.

He's also doing this

Barris is also currently attached to direct a remake of another beloved classic, The Wizard of Oz (1939). The director plans on giving the musical fantasy – which famously revolutionized the use of color in film – a modern twist, shifting the setting from Kansas to an apartment complex in Inglewood, California.

Imagine being so narrowminded that california is your average every-day American state.
