I've been going to Penny Serio at the St. Francisville Animal hospital. No complaints.

Will have to do an ultrasound prior to getting spayed now.

I recently went through five vets to get our dog the proper treatment. I ended up at LSU. They are expensive but good. Second place would be Sherwood Forest Animal Hospital.

AVS is in North Baton Rouge. Long wait though but you'll have to wait until she's not in heat anymore anyway.

Is your usual vet not available?

Helouin's is the only place I used when I lived on that side of Baton Rouge. Carl is great with labs.

Is having a dog spayed that difficult that any vet wouldn’t be ok?

Seems like guy should have done this before letting his dog roam around in heat. Always someone looking for a deal after he neglected his dog.

Williams in Clinton is good and handles large animals very well

Audubon Animal Hospital is good in St.Francisville. Dr Liz is good and has a great team

Personally I’d avoid Penny Serio in St.Francisville. She’s a kook

There’s a place in Central, not sure the name but they have a 24hr emergency service 6 days a week and I know one of the vets that’s amazing.

I don't think most vets will spay your dog while she's in heat for the record. Maybe a good ole boy type place or AVS but anywhere that cares about that animal will tell you to come back after she's out.

Plains Ver in Zachary takes care of my 2 Lacy dogs, your’s would be just the 3rd they have seen. We have been pleased and been there for years. We live in south BR now but still make the drive.

Been a while since I knew someone that had to deal with this. However... I think the steps of action are you need to give the equivalent of a "day after pill" this will stop any pregnancy the downside is then your dog goes back into heat afterwards. Typically most vets won't fix your dog until a few months after the heat cycle.

It's been a while since a buddy had to deal with this but I think that's the way I remember it being taken care of.

Our labrador went into heat MUCH earlier than expected and instead of dealing with the mess, crazy behavior and male dogs that were practically ringing the doorbell we had her fixed mid heat. For all the keyboard warriors out there she was bred and whelped the heat before. It was slightly more complex surgery and did cost probably double. She lived 6-7 more years after that and died of old age. RIP HRCH UH "maggie" MH

We use Broussard veterinary in Lafayette. If you'd like to spend even more $$ Lafayette Veterinary has a very well equipped practice and can probably handle for you.
